Butt results from LBL

I have been considering plastic surgery for some time.  I come to this board daily in order to read as much as possible so I have a good idea what to expect.  This is my question.

For those who have had an LBL, was you butt greatly improved.  All the photos and comments I see posted mainly deal with how the stomach and hips look.  I do not hear many talk about the impact the LBL made on their butt.  That is my worst area.  I do have excess skin on my abdomen, but it hangs off by butt and hips.

Before getting into the shower last night I once again turned to look at my back side.  I never take time to do that.  It depresses me, seriously.  I sag, and my butt is wide.  It makes me wonder who much that area can be impacted by an LBL, or it is in too far gone.  Dr. L did say I would still have some sag, but it would be improved.

I have struggled with deciding whether to have my facial work done first or my body.  After spending time last night once again looking at that area, I'm about ready to schedule my surgery.

Does the butt improve enough to warrant the LBL?  I'll be 57 this summer.  I do not expect to look 30, but I do hope to be able to stand in before a mirror and say "that surgery and the costs associated with it was worth it."  Does a butt lift give better butt results than an LBL, or are they the same?

The butt lift is part of the LBL.  A LBL is technically a Tummy Tuck, Outer Thigh Lift, and Butt Lift combo. It made a HUGE difference for me.

I just added a Before picture on my profile, from the back, if you want to see it.

I also just had my LBL butt scar revised this week.  I had a bit of a sag leftover (not bad at all, especially compared to where I started).  But my surgeon thought he could do better so offered to do the revision.  I dont fault him at all that the sag was left.  After my LBL I was pulled so tightly, there wouldn not have been one inch more he could have taken off.  I think my body just settled that way.

MY GOSH....your photo before the revision looks great.  I can't see sag anywhere.  Did he want to make it smaller.  It looks good before the revision?  Did you have fat transfer?  Also, your thighs look so smooth.  Your LBL lifted the outter thighs that much?  Dr. L.s recommendations were for LBL and inner thigh lift.  It was only after a few weeks later I realized I forgot to alk about my outter thighs.  The LBL made your outter thighs look that great?  Do you mind telling me your age?

Thanks.  Oh yes, the LBL totally helped my outer thighs.  I just posted another before picture, this one a side view of my thigh.

I'm 48 years old.  I lost a total of 150 pounds.  I'm 5'6" and was about 150-155 pounds in the before picture, about 140-145 in the after.  Plastics took about 10 pounds off of me.  I started before my WLS in a tight 24W.  After weight loss, but before plastics, I was wearing a 10.  After plastics, I'm in a size 6.

Hope that helps!

Thank you Joana...you have helped me a lot.

I am a little taller than you, but we wore the same size.  I too was a 24...probably needed to be a 26 but would not allow my self to buy a size 26.  I looked for any 24 that fit.

You have a really good surgeon.  I can't wait to see your revision after photos.  I needed to hear what a difference it makes.  Spending that amount of money and not knowing the outcome is difficult.  Having the right plastic surgeon is crucial for sure.

I had the same exact fear about each of my plastic surgeries not making a big enough difference.  I think we just get conditioned to not liking our bodies, and not letting ourselves imagine what is possible.

Have you been to any consults yet?  The surgeons should be able to give you a realistic expectation.  One thing you can do is stand sideways in front of a full length mirror, and pull your tummy up as tighlty as you can.  That will show you how small you really are underneath.

And I totally agree with you, going to someone who specializes in massive weight loss patients is crucial.  Our skin is different to work with than people who were never morbidly obese.  Did I read correctly that you're in Texas?  One of the best, Dr LoMonaco, is there in Houston.

Dr. LoMonaco is who will do my surgery.  I have already consulted with him and 2 others.  During my consult he told me I will still have some sag.  He pulled my skin to show me what I can expect.  I then pulled it showing what I do, and he said "no, your skin cannot be pulled that tightly or else you would not be able to bend over."  I carried my weight in my butt and hips.  I do have skin on my abdomen, but it does not hang...just wrinkled.

So...I was really disappointed and began thinking maybe I should skip the body and do the face.  I know he will give the best results possible.  My skin on my tummy is thin, and he said it will be difficult to work with.  He scheduled 8 hours for the thigh and LBL.  All he is waiting on is a call to reserve the date and begin preop tesing.  I am closer today than ever.

Thank you for taking the time to share your photos and speak with me.

Joanne,
Always love seeing your plastics pics.  I'm such a fan of Dr C's work.  Couldn't get to him to do my arms but I hope i can go to him for LBL when i'm ready.  Your body rocks!
