Pain meds after TT and Arm lift

Ok need some help here. I am alergic to Morphine, codine, Hydrocodone.
They make me itch and wheeze.
I am having surgery on June5th and I have an appointment with my primary care
on the 10th of may to discuss pain medication after surgery.
The surgeon says that Dilauded is best in an IV so he is not sure how it
will be for pain relief orally.
My question is what can I take to help with the pain? Basically I need to do
my research prior to seeing my PCP so I can inform him as to what a person
who has had RNY and all these allergies can take. Don't get me wrong he
is a great doctor but I just need to help educate him on this part.
Is it possible to take one of those meds and take benedryl at the same time?
I just want some good pain relief. After my Rny they gave me dilauded liquid, worked
ok, but my plastics doctor is not comfortable with that for home care.
Any suggestions from all would be welcome.

Thanks,
Dani

I'm sorry that I don't have any pain med advice, but I had to comment about the Benadryl. Please don't think about taking a pain med you're allergic to. You'll add to the misery from the itching and wheezing - And you'll put yourself at risk for anaphylaxis where your respiratory function swells up and shuts down.
There are lots of pain meds out there. You, your PCP and surgeon will be able to find something!
Hopefully some plastics vets will chime in with some alternative suggestions for what worked for them.
Hang in there Sweets! and best of luck!

Hello, i am unable to take those as well as a few others. I am going to ask about a pain pump and see if they can put something in there that is different. My allergic reaction is mental depression and a really bad upset stomach.

What exactly is a pain pump?

And I have decided against the benedryl option. Too many things could
go wrong.
There has to be a medication I could take that would take care of the
pain at home.

Thanks so much for all your imput

They leave a small tube in your abdominal area and there is a little 'pump' that will slowly release pain meds into the area that you have been opporated on. I have heard allot of people swear by it.

How are you today?
