How long do you have to maintain your goal weight before plastics?

Keep in mind that any fluctuation in your weight, say 15-20 pounds or so, is going to affect your results.  It's a lot to go through, only to lose more weight ,and then end up with less than optimal results.  I lost my last 30 pounds or so over 8 months, so it was a big difference to wait a bit.

The average is about a year. I've been maintaining my weight for a little less than a year. But I've been thinking about PS since December.

Hi, I did not really have a goal, just wanted to lose weight until I felt and looked the way I wanted. I went from 300 to 150 and was way to skinny (looked bad) I am 5' 9" and in a size 4 and for my bone frame the weight was not enough. I am now at 175 and have been for a little over 2 years. I am pretty small every where but my stomach. I have small legs, no butt and a huge stomach. You can look at my pics. My doc that I am having surgery with does not want to do lipo with the tummy tuck so I am going to a consult with a doc that will and that will lift my private area back to where it belongs and remove the fat pad there. The reason lipo is so important is that I do not want to have to lose more weight after my tt to be where I want to be. I want the fat removed from my rib cage area as well and my flank area. I would lose the weight until you are in the size you feel comfortable at. Maintain that weight for a while, work out (I don't) and then see how it goes. However, I do know that you could have your arms done when you reach your goal and a neck lift.

Not sure if many will agree, but IMO I'd wait at least a year, or 6-9 months at the very least.  I waited 1 year after my weight was stable before I had a Panni and fully TT.

Well I never maintained. In fact I had gainer 40 pounds and set my plastics date to motivate me to get that 40 back off. (and I did) I'm 5'10 and  had my plastics at 202 pounds.

My husband is super obese and that makes for a very toxic environment at our house, I needed something to motivate me or I feared back sliding.

Also just like my surgeon said " it's your body, it's your money" He said it was not his place to tell me when my body was ready for plastice.

I was however 2.5 years out from lapband.

My surgeon did not make me wait until goal. He says that a lot of surgeons won't work on people who aren't at goal and weight stable, because if they gain weight back they make THEIR results look bad. So these plastic surgeons and insurance companies repeat the mantra to wait and be weight stable when it's not necessary, and then other people just go with what they "hear". I maintained the same weight for quite a while even though I wasn't at goal.

I'm pretty stable with my weight because I eat the same.. I have to add exercise to LOSE, but my diet makes me maintain my weight pretty easily.  I haven't exercised in a while due to life cir****tances.. hoping to get back to that soon. I also know others who had tummy tucks and lower body lifts before goal, and their stomachs are still nice and flat. Legs and arms can be done before goal too.

However my surgeon recommends not to do face until you are within 10 pounds of where you want to be because the face is very weight sensitive and skin will sag if you are not weight stable. See my profile for my results, and keep in mind I haven't posted new pix yet. I look way better now at almost 2 months out.. can't wait to have a free moment to share my new pix.

I've gone from a size 16/XL to a size 10-14 depending on the clothes, Medium to Large in size. I've lost at least 5 inches from hips just since surgery like week 2 after surgery to week 5, but I forgot to measure right after surgery when I was still swollen or before surgery.. darn! I just know I lost 5 inches when I randomly measured 2 weeks out and then again 5 weeks out.

My surgeon took 20 pounds off of me and put me in wonderland, and really made me feel amazing. I have no regrets for not waiting, and feel renewed motivation to get to goal, so I can get my face done and my arms and legs. I'm wearing tight figure hugging dresses nowadays.. I've never been able to do that before and I feel fantastic!

There is no fat in my abdomen area to gain weight in, so I would put it on in other areas. This is what i hear from many people who have TTs.. they gain but they gain in other areas, like butt, arms, thighs, etc. Again since I'm pretty good at keeping my weight stable I'm not too concerned at regaining and making that an issue. Now getting MORE weight off and the amount of discipline it will take me to lose these last 20-40 pounds I'd like to lose.. that's another story!

Also many of my friends think if I had the arm and leg surgery right now I would look fine and that it's just loose skin. I had my plastics at 216. I trusted my doctor and was thankful he was supportive of me getting the plastics I did! I hope I can lose and get to goal in the next year or so, because I'm SOOO ready to fix my chin!

Hope that helps...
