It just depends.  Take your meds the doc gives you, rest and move (yes both, rest when you can, but move to prevent adhesions and stimulate circulation).  The pain for my RNY was bearable, not nearly as bad as a Abdominoplasty.

Regarding my RNY:  Honestly, if I didn't know better, I'd swear I didn't even have surgery.  I really had very little pain.  I was uncomfortable from the air they pump into you...not the surgery itself.

I was on my treadmill the day I came home from the hospital (walking very slowly) and only used Tylenol if needed.

I'm having the LBL in November............the pain from THAT scares me to death!

Come visit us on the RNY forum if you have any further questions.  We are here for you-and hold on!  You are about to embark on the journey of a lifetime!

My pain with my LBL was horrible! I spent a week in the hospital on morphine, and I could barely move. That being said the great thing about pain like that, is after you go through it your brain blocks out the memory.

I can't remember what the pain felt like at this point, only that it was horrible. I know this from experience from my vertical c-section, and it's just a short time and the rewards are WELL worth it.

How I got through my fear is I just refused to think about it. Every time I thought about it and got scared, I'd like change the channel in my brain; force myself to think of something else. I just kept thinking, I will be fine, and if I'm not I will either be in heaven or never know any better.

I also kept thinking, I need to NOT think about the pain because once I have it done there is no going back, and I'd just have to deal with it. So I forced myself to just think about DOING it, rather than what was to come after. I knew if I could DO it, I'd have no other choice but to deal with the after results.

At 6 weeks out I was back to dancing! At 2 weeks out I was driving again, and shuffling around slowly. I'm 7 weeks out now and feeling great.. almost forget I have surgery at times except for the amazing fun I am having shopping for new clothes for my new bod, and how good I feel every day in the mirror.

Don't let your fears stop you.. it's great on the other side!

I had more pain from my DS than my LBL, BL, arms and medial thigh lift.  Now, my face was a different story.  I think it's the epidural seems to last longer.  But, my body work pain was minimal.  I'm a pain weeny.... I can handle a 1-3 out of 10...

Chris, I believe you're right!  I had NO pain with my LBL/Anchor Cut TT.  I have said it before, IF I hadn't had incisons, I would have never even known I had surgery.  The epidural makes a big difference!

One piece of advice, figure out (according to doctors orders) as sson as you can if you end up lactose intolerant.  I didn't know until almost a month after my RNY (and a month of drinking lactose based protein powder....and then wishing for death)....

I agree! I've had MANY different surgeries, and my breast implants were by far the most painful of all of the surgeries that I've had. Just had them removed when I had my facelift, and I feel SO much better. I'll never have breast implants again.

Do you think your implants hurt more for a specific reason? Were they under the muscle or over? My breasts are my next procedure. My face specifically my neck was the most painful and the lipo in my thighs were second worst. The rest of my procedures were painfree.
