Advice on getting back to the gym??

Looking for some advice on getting back into the swing of working out and going to the gym.

I'm about 5 weeks out from tummy tuck and hernia repair. My recovery has been OK -- but have had some fluid build up (seroma) that I've been getting drained everyweek.

So, I have been walking a bunch and that's fine ... but before surgery I was running/ weights at the gym 4-5 x's a week.

I'm worried that I'll get really swollen if I go on  run, and I still feel tightness (muscle, not skin) when I stand-up straight....

How'd you ease back in? Ignore the tightness?

Thanks y'all!

It's a matter of slowly breaking up the adhesions (at least in my case).  I found that raising my arms over my head while walking did wonders for stretching when I finally hit the walking track.

I'm 3.5 weeks out from my Abdominoplasty and just got back to interval runs today.  Had some pins/needles across my gut when I would stop running, but it would be gone in about 15 seconds.  By the time I hit the fifth lap, I was back to "normal".

Waiting until next week when I see the doc Monday to get clearance for the weights.  When that starts, I'll play it by ear but I'll be starting at ZERO and moving slowly forward over the next week or two.

I waited for 3 months to get cleared for any rigourous physical activity. Your body needs time to heal. I just started up at the gym with a personal trainer. I can really feel the ab muscles tightening and they still get a little swollen. Just ease back into it, start off slow. Go to the local gyms and ask for a personal trainer. Good luck.
