Having BR/BL 4/30... what do I need at home for post-op?

Hi...

My breast reduction/breast lift is next Monday, so this is my last week to get everything I need for post-op.  My surgeon doesn't have his patients do sports bras because he wants nothing at all pressing on the bottom of the breast and potentially restricting blood flow, so he advocates tube tops.  I've got a couple of those on order, as well as bandages and such for dressing, but besides that and prescriptions, I haven't thought as far as what else it might be good to have around.

Is there anything you wish you'd had handy post-op that you can recommend?  Any suggestions are greatly appreciated... I find I'm more nervous and scattered about this than I was my RNY!

Thank you much, everyone!!

My lift was an easy recovery. It's strange that you are not even in a bra. I wore one and even had to tape mine underneath to lift them up so they would not sag (he called it the LeJour taping technique). Our skin is a mess so they can sag again quite easily.

I know, it's odd that he only wants me in tube tops!  And honestly, the tube tops are literally to hold the dressings in place more than anything else, instead of relying on elastic bandages, supposedly. I was worried about the sag factor, too, but he doesn't seem to think there's going to be much.  I will question again on Monday...

So anything you wished you had around after PS that you didn't think of beforehand?

Hi there, you must be getting excited! My TT is june 12th. For my rny I was shaking so bad that my body was coming off the table before they wheeled me into the or. The anestesiaologist had to give me some serious meds and I don't remember a thing. I am nervous about this to. I have had two c-sections, an open bypass (would never suggest that) and several other little surgeries. HOwever, I know that it will be painful. I don't really remember the pain after my bypas but I remember being depressed because I chose the open.

For my TT, I am going to make sure that my husband is off work for a few days. My mom is coming to stay for a month. I will want to make sure that I have plenty of my favorite foods, lotions, clean laundry, house clean, comfy socks, scar cream and tape, good movies to watch, compression garmets and I am sure that I will think of more. Oh yeah, lots of fluids to drink that I like.

Keep me informed of your surgery. I have my before TT pics on my profile if you want to have a peak.

After anesthesia,I typically have no appetite for a few days.

Having soup and crackers on hand was helpful.
Also, lip balm and Popsicles were soothing to me.

I was sent home from my breast lift (no implants) in a soft front close br and wore one of those for months.

My incisions went pretty far around my back and so soft t shirts and camisoles were helpful to
Rotect my side incisions.

Oooh, good idea on the popsicles.... although I think I'll go with SF Fudgesicles instead.  I've already considered the soup aspect... suspect I'll be going that route and soft, warm things for a couple days.  Protein lattes will be a staple, too... want plenty of protein for good healing!

Thank you for the suggestions!
