Has anyone had plastic surgery in Bangkok? I did some research and seems that this may be a very interesting option. Quick calculation suggests about 12-15K for thighs, butt, TT, boob lift, arms. And service and care to the max. Any first hand experiences?

No --- but I visited Bangkok 3 years ago ---

Personally, medical care outside of the US is just outside of my comfort level.
I cannot imagine a 16 - 18 hour flight home after any type of surgery ---

I hope it works out for you.

Mexico was much closer and had wonderful care with Dr Sauceda.  Plus, his experience with WL patients and our skin issues was important to me.  It took me 12+ hrs with layovers to get from MTY to Sacramento, not sure I could have handled a long flight.  I was two weeks out when I flew home.  Click on Dr Sauceda in my siggy line and it'll bring you over to our group here on OH.

Bangkok has some amazing hospitals and surgeons.  These  are both easy to research and verify.  What I found difficult in examining Thailand as an option was information specifically on surgeons that specialized in massive weight loss patient plastic surgery.  Thanks to this board and the other American websites such as realself.com it was easier to research actual patient experiences from surgeons in the US and Mexico.

I am an American living in Australia. I elected to make the 21 hour air trip to use a Houston based surgeon known for his expertise with MWL patient plastic surgery.  The travel isnt easy but it is doable. More troublesome is finding assistance close to home should something go wrong or complications arise.

There are going to be folks that tell you that going outside the USA is unwise or a bad choice.  I assure you that this exact sentiment is shared by doctors of other countries when you travel out of their country for medical assistance.  I think it is just a built in prejudice.  When I needed help for a negative reaction and rejection of sutures, the doctors and nurses here in Australia commented on my choice to have the operation in the USA. One nurse told me, "thats what you get for going overseas, we have REAL doctors here".

Do your research, check with previous patients, and be prepared when choosing any surgery anywhere in the world.

I went to Mexico for my plastics, so I am not opposed to leaving the USA for plastics.

A few years ago my son was living in a town south of Bangkok.  He was there teaching high school.  He got an infection in his ankle.  I just happened to be going there on vacation whie he was hospitalized.  When I got there the staff infection had spread and they needed to operate.

They took him into the OR to cut out the infection. I tagged along.  There were three silver slab tables in the OR.  Zach was put on the middle table.  During his surgery, a family of three that were in a motorcycle accident were put on slab 1.  Another case came in for slab three.

I did not see the doctor wash his hands, or anyone clean down the bare table before Zach got on it.  The doc took a scalpel and cut a quarter size chunk of infection out of Zach's leg.  Needless to say, I wanted him out of there.  Two days later he was able to come off IV antibiotics and said I could take him anywhere with a clinic that could change his dressings daily.

We went down the coast to a resort for his recuperation.  I didn't get my trip down the river Kwai, but Zach got better.  I returned a couple years later for my elephant ride and kayaking.

It wasn't Bangkok, but that experience was enough to scare me away from considering surgery in Thailand.  Now maybe i

This is a link to one of the top hospitals in the region. You are not going to find the conditions that Lee described at the link below just as I imagine you won't hear any comparisons of Tijuana nightmare medical experiences or backwoods operations in rural Southern Mexico with the experiences of those using Dr. Sauceda.  There are good and bad locations for medical care in most developing countries.   www.bumrungrad.com/thailandhospital
