That sounds about right.
My tt was my second procedure with the same surgeon so they were very relaxed about it.
I saw the nurse about 10 days pre op and paid on that day.
She went over all of the pre op rules .... And ordered some bloodworm.
Then, I saw the surgeon 2 days before my procedure ..he checked my blod pressure, heart rate, re-explained the procedure and just wanted to be sure I was still in good health and had not changed since I scheduled things!!!!
Their quotes are good for 6 months, so I imagine that people could gain or lose weight, or develop other issues in that time frame ... So, he re-checks on you a few days before he gets surprised at the surgery center.

That's what I did as well. I left a deposit, and then paid in full at my pre-op visit, which was about 2 weeks before surgery.
I work in healthcare, this is pretty typical for elective surgery. The doctor's time and the hospital OR scheduling cost $$ and last minute cancelations are a real revenue loser for them.

My TT surgeon in Pensacola took ten percent of her surgical fees in advance just to get on her surgical books. She then books a pre-surgical consult two weeks before surgery, and on that day she asks for the remainder of her fees, plus the anesthesiologist fees. The following week, I have a pre-admittance appointment at the hospital where she does surgery, and I have to pay the hospital fees that day. I was in Pensacola the other day, so I went ahead and paid everything except the hospital fees just so they know I'm serious about surgery with them since I cancelled with them once before and went to Costa Rica for a facelift instead.
