Tummy Tuck qustions?
There are many different types of tummy tucks. Since you are having a hysterectomy (open - I assume - not laproscopic??) I would think the surgeon is just removing skin as he closes your hysterectomy incision??
There are vertical, horizontal, circumferential, fleur de lis (is both vertical and horizontal) and other types of abdominoplasty. Some also include underlying muscle sculpting. Some horizontal ones can also include thigh and buttock and back work.
Maybe you can be more specific on the type of procedure.
I had fleur de lis abdominoplasty with significant muscle sculpting (I also had brachioplasty done at the same time). My horizontal incision went from mid buttock, accross the front (Low at mons area) to the other mid buttock & then vertical from the mons area to between my breasts at the sternum. You can click on my name or picture to see pictures.
The different surgeries require different recuperation times, limitations, drainage, wound care, etc.
Best wishes, Penny

I had a TT along with a lower body lift and breast augmentation on March 2nd (almost 8 weeks ago). My surgeon didn't weigh the skin, but I really didn't have a lot. He only tightened the lower 3-4" of my abs and I expected to feel like I'd been forced to do a hundred sit ups, but most of the pain was the stinging from the angry nerve endings that had been disrupted. I'd say once the swelling eased, I was down about 5-7 lbs which was lower than I wanted to be, so I've been working to put it back on and am back at my goal weight.
I went in a size 4 and came out a size 4 - the biggest difference is I just don' t have a muffin top any more and my stomach is smooth instead of looking like a Shar Pei (those dogs with all the wrinkles). At my visit three weeks ago he said all swelling was gone which I noticed the week before. I still prefer to wear mostly yoga pants, but have been able to wear high waisted jeans since about week 2 or so. So even though I had swelling, without the muffin top, it netted out pretty well. The waist band on my lower cut jeans sits right on the incision and it was closer to week 4 or so until I could comfortably wear them.
I was cleared for all normal activities after four weeks and went back to working out with my trainer 2x a week. I don't have my usual stamina during the workouts yet, but I think he intentionally kicked my butt today knowing I won't be there the rest of the week. In all other activities, I'm doing fine.
I did sleep in a lift recliner and also recommend a raised toilet seat. And work out now as much as you can. The more you can strengthen your legs & core, the easier it will be to get up and down after the surgery, plus you'll be happier with the results. I'm 51 and I think my body fat is around 20% - I actually have the beginnings of defined abs. I could see the perimeter of them a couple of weeks ago, but now that I'm working with my trainer again and my goal is to have a six pack by the end of the summer, I'm starting to see more of the interior definition - like the line down the center. Never in my life did I think that was a possibility!
