Lower body lift vs. fleur TT...Long
Hi,
I am scheduled and approved for a fleur TT on May 2nd, insurance is covering everything. Since the consult, I have been doing some more research, and feel like a lower body lift would be a good idea. The PA I met with for my pre-op said I would be a good candidate, and it would make a big difference. A few problems:
1) I would have to change my surgery date to add the extra time and at a different facility.
2) I would have to pay $4000 out of pocket for the additional work, not a deal breaker, but not how I need to spend my tax money
3) No OR openings until June, I am moving out of state and starting a new job in July, so I really need to have surgery the beginning of May to give myself time to heal, etc.
So, the boat I am in, is **if** a patient already on his schedule in the next
2 weeks cancels (according to the scheduler, there is only 1 patient that has enough time blocked that I could take), I can go in for LBL.
Am I crazy? Do I need to just get over this and be happy to get the TT? I am worried that I am not going to be happy with the results if I still have saggy thighs, butt, hips, etc. Or will the TT tighten in other areas just by skin being pulled up?
Thanks for any input....
Jenn

The fleur de lis did help my upper thighs and really sculpted my waist and upper and lower abdomen.
I do have alot of sagging skin on buttocks and inner and outer thighs.
I guess you have to analyze what you want. I don't swim, I'm older and I look great in jeans. My plastic surgeon wont keep you under general anesthesia for more than 4 hours so he wouldn't have done the two procedures you are wanting together. I've decided I don't want a round of second plastic procedures, so I'm happy with my fleur de lis (and I had brachioplasty at the same time,)
I had to pay cash - about $14,000 so the $4000 seems like a bargin. I can't imagine moving and working full time within a month of that much plastic surgery. If you are young and in good physical shape, maybe you could pull it off.
Best wishes in your choice.

Quite honestly, if you have a saggy butt and you only have a tummy tuck, your butt will look even saggier because your tummy will look so good in comparison. Do the lbl. I am thrilled with mine.

I started heavier than you so I bet I had more skin. The LBL was just what was needed and made my butt smaller and lifted, the outer thighs lifted and my stomach flat. I did not need a middle cut and I'm glad I don't have that.
I'd listen to your surgeon and get a few different opinions. I wouldn't want to do the middle cut unless I had to. I like being able to hide my scar in my under pants.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I met with the surgeon again today, he thinks I would be a good candidate for the LBL, but also thinks he can get good results with the extended TT...
As of right now, he has no OR time to extend my surgery to include the LBL, in order to have enough recovery time before I move for a new job. So, cross your fingers and I'll try to not wish ill will on anyone on his schedule.... but if they cancel I'll go for LBL, if not, just TT.... either way I'll be happy.
I don't think my new insurance will cover.... I'm going from an awesome huge university policy to a tiny private practice policy..... trying to take advantage of the good insurance before I lose it :-)
