Anyone have plastics that doesn't accept blood transfusions?
In my practice, it is very rare for a patient to need a blood transfusion following body contouring procedures. That being said, bleeding is always a risk and this needs to be discussed with all patients. You should consult with a board certified plastic surgeon who is experienced with dealing with weight loss patients. There are techniques to minimize blood loss during your procedure. Also, you should have a thorough preoperative evaluation to rule out anemia. Hope that helps. Congratulations on your weight loss.

My parent's are JW's - and I know that they don't accept ANY blood product...not even plasma.
BUT - my mom has a ton of health issues (including ones with big bleeding risks) and she has a long list of things they CAN use to build up their blood pre-surgery and to take in an emergency. If the OP's religion requires no blood - I'd be they also have that list available for their members.
Think about getting your iron in a good place and being in the best possible health pre-surgery. I told my surgeon I did not want a blood transfusion unless he was sure I'd DIE immediately without it - he told me that there really should be any need for a transfusion in plastics...since all the cuts are (relatively) superficial. Far more risk of that with your WLS than plastics.
