Facial fillers - dermatologist or plastic surgeon?

I am a long way from being ready for plastics but I do want to do something about the melty face I have developed. As my face has slimmed down my marionette lines have gotten deeper and I am starting to get a  little jowl-y.

Where do I start looking for someone to do the fillers?  Do you think a PS would be "better" than a dermatologist or vice versa?

If you have had fillers, were you happy with them?

Thanks!  :-)

Sometimes the fillers do not work to the extent that WL patients need. They work with a facelift but not alone. Consult with a ps and they can do both if they feel the result will be good. A facelift took complete care of mine without fillers, but I have always had a rounder face.

Thanks for the info.   It is too early for me to consider a facelift as I still have a lot to lose.  At this point I don't need a facelift as I don't have any sag really, just a little loseness.   To be honest the lines bother me far more than the loseness at the jawline.

At any rate, I have an appt with a PS next week to discuss filler/botox options.  Even if I have to get a lift eventually I would like to do something in the short term if possible.

I had fillers (Restylane) in my eye troughs as they were VERY bad and I looked as though I was super exhausted ALL the time. Because I was doing an area so close to the eyes, I chose a ophthalmic plastic surgeon and I was extremely pleased with the practice, procedures offered, treatments and follow up care. All in all, I would choose an experienced plastic surgeon over a dermatologist.

I had my treatment in two stages over two weeks....it was, for the most part, very quick and painless. My PS feels I should get a year to two out of my fillers before having to redo them. That's the only catch...it's pricey and doesn't last forever. :(

Good luck to you - let me know if I can help with any other questions!

Did they use Botox also?  What do filler like this cost.  My dermatologist recommended fillers and botox for me about 2 years ago.  She said I was looking at about $1500 for both treatments in the areas I needed.

I didn't do Botox although I am considering it for my forehead...not nearly as bad as my eyes were though!  I used two vials of filler and cost was $1100.

That sounds about right.  She said I needed 2 vials of fillers and one botox.  Thanks
