Cost of Neck Lift?

Hi All,

I will be 3 years out from RNY in June. I have lost 120 pounds. I have other plastics that need to be done ...like a TT. I'm hoping that my insurance will cover that....but, my neck is really bothering me. I really think I need a neck lift. Can anyone tell me about how much one costs??? Also, what it is like to have it done.

Thanks so much,
Kathy

I can tell you what it's like to have it done, lol. I am one month out from a full facelift, and my neck was my biggest problem.

I went to Costa Rica to have it done, and you can look through my recent "old" posts and read more about that if you like. I can't tell you much about U.S. costs, but my surgeon (Dr. Lev) has his price list in Costa Rica posted here...www.eternallyvain.com

If you only need a neck lift, though, you can probably have it done for the same price here in the U.S.. I went to Dr. Lev because he's an expert when it comes to getting a nice, tight neckline. I've got a nice neck for the first time in my entire life, and I love it. So much in fact, that I decided to get rid of my tummy, too, and will have a TT in Pensacola, FL on June 7th.

Having my neck done has been lifechanging for me. I can't even tell you how much better I feel about my appearance now. I'll attach some photos so you can see what I mean.

I can honestly tell you that I had no pain at all from my surgery other than a very sore throat for three days from the tubes used during six hours of general. I spent one night in the hospital, and never took a pain pill after that other than Liquid Tylenol for a few days. No pain from the incisions. No pain from the muscle work or the swelling. No pain.

However, the "tightness" in the neck area takes some getting used to. It's a very odd feeling. My face is still quite numb in many areas (from the facelift), even a month later, but I regain feeling each day. I also still have some swelling that comes and goes (seems to be related to salt use). The tightness is really hard to describe, but it feels like you have a hat or strap tied under your neck, and it's always there. Of course, it gets better every day, too, but I do still notice it from time to time. It's not painful at all, just sort of numb and tight. They say that's the sign of a good necklift, though, so I guess if you get a good one it is to be expected.

I LOVE my results. Here are the photos, before, about five days or so out (ignore the Dumbo ears, they were super swollen), and twelve days out...

Thanks so much for taking the time to write to me and share your experience. Your neck looks fantastic!!!!!! My necks bothers me more than anything too. I don't like the excess skin on my tummy either .......but that is easier to hide with the right clothes......the neck is just out there for all to see......no way to hide it. My neck turned sort of crinkly from the weight loss......I just hate the way it looks.

I will continue to look into it. Thanks again for sharing!

Best regards,
Kathy

I was originally scheduled for a TT/Breast Lift in the U.S. because of a complication with some old breast implants. I had to have the implants removed asap, and I was mad about it. For years, I had planned to do my facelift when I got in my 50's, but the breast swelling issue was going to force me to do the body work first. My facial surgeon agreed (reluctantly, because he thought I would not like my breasts with the implants out) to remove the old implants during my facelift, so I decided to do the facial work first. I am SO glad that I made that choice. Like you said, you can't hide the face and neck.
My husband was so impressed with my results when I got home from Costa Rica that he told me to go ahead and schedule my tummy tuck. Large midsections run in my family, and he knows how much my belly bothers me. I'm scheduled for June 7th, and can't wait!

If I had to choose between the TT or the FL, I would still pick the FL. I actually got carded when buying beer at the grocery store this week, lol. First time that has happened in 20 years. I guess I gave the girl a strange look when she told me that she needed to see my I.D., because she said "I have to ask for anyone who is under the age of 30". I laughed, and told her that I was 52, and she said "Wow! You look great for your age, lol". Now, I know that I don't REALLY look 30, but I am getting so many positive comments from complete strangers since my FL, so I know it's a positive change.

Best of luck with your journey!

In my opinion, and I don't give untrue compliments, you do look like you could pass for someone in their 30's. Honest!

I can't tell you how much I appreciate the kind words. I keep finding myself a little paranoid that people are looking at me, and wondering if something looks "wrong". My husband told me last week that I look "totally normal, but younger", lol. He's not one to say nice things, but I caught him looking at me when we were on the sofa the other day, and asked him what was up. He said "Nothing. I was just thinking that you look like you did when we got married". I was 28 when we got married, and I know that I don't look that young, but it is really nice to have him say something nice for a change.

I sure do love my new look. I'm only a month out, and it's still changing every day. I'm softening up, and looking downright cute for a change (in my own eyes). I'm not at all the arrogant type, and don't mean that in a boastful way. I'm trying to say that over the years, I've been very critical of my appearance, and now, I like the way that I look. I really owe Dr. Lev. He's amazing!
