Did you get to keep your original belly button, did you get a complete new one, did you lose your belly button, if so did you have a surgery later to create one or just leave it alone?

Thanks!

New one.  Should have asked if he could have done something fancy....maybe in the shape of a kangaroo.  :-)

Lol, my facial surgeon told me a story about a girl who went to a surgeon that he knows and requested areolas in the shape of hearts. He said that the doctor did the surgery and used photos of the new heart shaped areolas in a presentation to other surgeons. My surgeon was very amused by the whole thing. I guess they get all kinds of odd requests.

Mine was moved. I love my belly button. If you're in the research phase, make sure your surgeon does good ones. There are a lot of surgeons who do bad belly buttons.

I have my same bb but he moved it.  I think it is really cool that it is the same one but in a new place.  My PS said that the BB is the hardest part .  I agree with Laura...make sure you get a PS that does good bb's.  I don't think they all do them well.

good luck to you

Thanks everyone. I had to do a lot of reading and spoke to a few doctors to get a better understanding of the BB. Most of my weight was in my lower stomach. I have a very large apron now and I did before I lost the weight as well. It was explained to me that the stalk of the BB is stretched out. So Yes, they will do the best job possible to try to save it. I know that some people end up losing their belly buttons for one reason or another. I hope I get to keep mine. I was most likely going to be having surgery with doctor S in Mexico. But, I am not sure my primary doctor is gonna back me up... I am meeting with 4 more doctors between now and the 1st week of May.

I got a new one and it is very cute!!! LOL

I read that some people put (clean) marbles in there to force it to heal in a round shape, but mine is pretty round on its own.

Make sure you ask what YOUR surgeon will do.

I hope you go to Dr.S in Mexico-I have/read such lovely things about him.
I wish that he would have been a viable option for me.
I do not have a BB but I had asked that they not do one if it was a problem-and then my body caused a problem on itself! I developed slough and teeny gangrene where the BB had been.

Same BB stem but new hole. I guess I like it as apposed to not having one at all but it has a ring around it... kinda like a race track. I guess it's a scar!
