Plastic Surgery after Pulmonary Embolisms from Bypass??

Has anyone had plastic surgery after getting blood clots from RNY?  I am 3 1/2 years post op and did develop one, two or three blood clots that went to my lungs.  I am fine now.  I exercise 6 days a week but still have stubborn areas.  My most problematic one is my "saddle bags."  I was just curious if anyone has had plastic surgery after developing blood clots.  Although I would like this problem area to go away, the thought of having surgery to fix it scares me.  I run 6 days a week but some areas just are there.  Does anyone have advice for this area without surgery?  If you've had blood clots and had plastic surgery, I'd love to hear from you too.  Thanks.  :-)

I think the only way to get rid of those problem areas is surgery.

I know it must be scarey the thought of surgery after having those complications.  But you are alot lighter in weight now.and being so big is a hugh risk factor in getting clots.  I would get a surgeon that you totally trust and talk to him about this.  They can be more agressive with anti clotting measures for you.  As long as you have a great doc and some serious discussions about this complication, I would be ok going for it.  I would want to know exactly what measures they were gonna take to prevent clots.  You are smart to be concerned about this but there are absolutely measures that can be done to prevent this.  I am a RN and used to work on a surgical floor.  We took care of alot of patients that were very high risk for clots.
good luck to you!

Thank you for your response Patty.  You gave me some encouragement to continue looking into possible remedies for those stubborn areas.  I am still on the fence (and probably will be for a while because that's that way I am...LOL....takes forever to research and come to a decision), but am still looking into it.  I am thinking a consultation wouldn't hurt and would give me a chance to discuss this in detail.  Thank you again.  :-)

I had blood clots after an ankel fracture in 03. I am just very cautious about the warning signs. Moving my legs a lot and walking post op (i've had vsg, ankle again, and c-sections after clots) and I'm usually on heprin or some other med.

Glad you've done well after the clots.  I didn't have the typical warning signs.  As a matter of fact, when I went to the ER, the nurse who screens you told me that he didn't think I had clots.  But, CT revealed I did.

Please check with your doctor about your need for a Green Fill filter.  I am not sure that is the correct name for the filter, but it keep them from going to the lungs,  My brother and I both have one because we both have had blood clots. Surger to insert filter is a simple one.

Thank you.  I will ask about the filter when I go for a consult.  Did you have the clots as a result of the weight loss surgery?

The clots were a result of a surgery on the leg.  I make sure all doctors know about my clot history.  If you have other questions, please ask
