I know the amount of time we are under anesthesia is a contributor to hair loss after WLS....well....am I going to have to go thru that again after plastics???!!!

What was your experience like???  I just got it all back!  I'd hate to start over again.

I didn't lose any hair with PS, but I had an epidural and was under twilight sedation.  Only way to go!

My band procedure was only about 45 minutes under anesthesia (hiatal hernia and band placement)

I swear that I had some hair loss about 4 months after that -- it came back full and nice, though.

My first PS (breast lift and arms) was about 18 months ago, and I was under anesthesia for about 3 1/2 hours.

I don't think that I had hair loss ---- if I did, it was not noticable.

I will have to let you know about the TT -- I had it 3 weeks ago and was under for about 2 hours.

I was under for almost seven hours for my hernia repair and LBL, and I have not had any hair loss. My gastric bypass only took three hours and I DID have hair loss with that. I wouldn't worry too much about it this time around, because from my understanding, one of the main reasons for the hair loss is the malnutrition after weight loss surgery.

I am hoping not. I lost soooooo much hair with my lap band. I thought it would never stop. Luckily it did, but crossing my fingers that it doesn't happen this time. I am 5 weeks out so far.

I was really worried about that too because I lost Lot with my sleeve...and it took almost 18 months for it to get back to normal...but it did not happen with my plastics.  I am almost 3 months post plastics and so far so good.

Good luck to uou

I did not lose much with my sleeve, and I have lots of hair so it was fine. But I was under for 14 hours with my plastics so I hope I don't lose hair either!

Four and a half years after my RNY I STILL have horribly thin hair (it was so nice and thick before that). I do seem to be losing a little more now (7 weeks after plastics)... It's so frustrating. I'm only 35 and I feel like I'm going to end up wearing wigs!

Typically, the major hair loss is due to the Malnurishment Factor and not the anesthesia when someone goes through WLS. I haven't heard about the anesthesia factor at all. The Malnurishment hair loss is widely documented.

I was under anesthesia for 7 hours for my bl and lbl. I had some hair loss afterwards, but nothing compared to the amount I lost after RNY.
