I am very excited today because BCBS Fed just approved my brachioplasty and TT revisions!  They actually approved this is about a week after the dr. sent in the request.  My arms are really bad and I can't wait until they are no longer flapping in the wind.  The surgery will be on April 16th, so not long away.
I had no idea insurance would ever pay for my arms, until I read a post on this forum from Psyche recently.  I immed. called her dr., got an appt. and victory!
Thanks Psyche,  Dr. Marisa Lawrence(in Atlanta) and BCBS!
See, it pays to read these forums!

AWESOME!! I have the same insurance...Did they consider it 'reconstructive surgery'?  Did you have any issues with the skin?

Yes, it's considered reconstructive surgery.  I do have issues with the skin, hygiene, etc.  Along with the dr's. request,  we included a great letter my hubby wrote about my arm problems.  I think that probably helped alot.

SEE?! Okay, I JUST came on this forum to post that a certain surgeon's office said "I've never heard of BCBS paying for a thigh-lift or arm-lift... there's no way they'll pay..."
So HA! In your face office-lady! I'm going to another surgeon who is willing atleast TRY!
Thanks so much BonBon!

Amy,  I was told by two other doctor's offices that insurance NEVER pays for arm lifts, so I wasn't even considering trying until I saw the post on this forum.
Good luck and I hope you find a dr. who is willing to help you.

Did Dr. Richard help you with your letter? Congratulations! Let me know what you think of your PS. Would love a referral from another Dr. Richards patient.

No, Dr. Richard didn't help with my letter, but I thought about asking him.  If I had been denied, I was already thinking about seeing all my doctors for letters, including Dr. Richard.  I will certainly be posting more about my experience with my plastic surgeon during the next several weeks.  So far, I really like her and the people in her office.
