 I wanted to see my surgeons work in person not pictures and I wanted to talk to actual patients that sold me on mine couldn't be happier

This is just for me:  Most important thing is the before and after phots of his actual work.  What makes a surgeon better than others is their artistic ability to create a nice looking body.  Most follow the same policy and procedure for things like preventing complications and infections - those things are based on luck and good nursing care more than just the surgeon.  In the end, if he does good work it will show with the photos.  Reviews are good to assess the surgeon's personality (bedside manner, etc).  When I picked my surgeon for tummy tuck years ago I chose him because he was the only one that had before/after photos of women who were actually still overweight (and he made them look great).  I came out with results better than I expected and would never even consider anyone but him again.  My opinion anyway.

No matter what, take your time, and make sure your gut feels good about him/her.
