PICS! "Bat-Wing" Surgery in 2 days! If you've had it let me know how it went?

A week, possibly. I had mine done on a Friday and could have gone back to work the following Monday, 10 days post-op, with no issues. I actually had another week off on top of that. By day 17 I felt great.

 I think Judith K said everything I would have. I'm almost five weeks out & I too can attest to it being "the pits." if your surgeon does extensive work in your arm pits it is likely you will be quite tight for a while. Personally I don't see how you can work even at a desk job the following day.

 Congrats on your upcoming surgery. I had a easy and pain free recovery but even though I wasn't in pain I had very limited range of motion at first. I remember just after my surgery I had to itch my nose and had to use a the remote to reach it. I don't know if I physically couldn't reach or if I was scared to move the wrong way. I even had trouble opening my water bottle. I think surgery wipes the energy out of me. But as time went on the following days I was able to do more, but I would take it real easy at first and focus on your healing. Good luck.

I will re-evaluate going into work Thursday if the pain is too much. My boss is really awesome that way. I have absolute faith and trust in my surgeon as he has been in this field almost 30 years. I put my complete trust in him for my VSG and followed his instructions to the letter which was why I was able to lose 155# in 10 months. I'm kind of his "poster child" you could say.

I really appreciate everyone sharing their experience so I have some idea what to expect. I don't know how much "pit work" he'll be doing-guess I'll find that out today at my pre-op appt. but it has given me some great questions to ask. Thanks again!

I'm just wondering what your surgeon says about how long you should be away from work.  I had my arms and chest done at the same time.  For me, the arms were the worst part of that surgery.  They were super tight and very painful.  I think that is because he wanted to take off every ounce of extra skin.  Now that I have healed, I am very glad he did that because I love my tight arms.  It hurt a lot at the time though.  

I can't imagine going back to any job the next day... or even a few days after surgery.  I had my first post op appt 2 days post op.  He took the bandages and dressings off then.  Until those came off, I couldn't move my arms at all really.  I think that the week following surgery is very important to healing.  You don't want to do too much and compromise your end results or have wound openings etc.

Only you can decide when you are ready to go back to work.  I think it would be a good idea to ask your surgeon his opinion on that matter and also find out how much time you can take off  of work in case your healing is a little harder than you expect or you have any complications.

Personally I thought arms were a super easy surgery, I had no drains and not much swelling.  I didn't have any lipo though.  I wish they were tighter now but atleast I can go sleeveless and not feel strange.  I had surgery on a Wednesday and went back to work on Sunday,  the compression sleeves felt good and I wore them a long time, finally I thought I was getting attached to them so I had to ditch them.  But otherwise it was the easiest of all my surgeries.
