How much extra did you have to pay?

BCBS is covering the removal of my panni and wondering what this included with your surgeon.  Did they do a full tummy tuck, tighten muscles , or did you have to pay extra. Also, those that were covered and wanted a full lower body lift, how much extra did it cost?  I know every surgeon is different, but curious what the norm is out there

Thanks!!

I have Anthem BC of CT.  I had extensive hernia repair at the same time as panni removal and ended up with a full tummy tuck.  They covered everything.

I have surgery schedule for May and BCBS is covering it.  BCBS is covering a panni removal, but my surgeon's office used the word panniculectomy to get the surgery covered, but told me that they use panniculectomy and abdominalplasty for the same operation.  This confused me and being the control freak I was I made a second appointment with my surgeon so that I could know what exactly she was doing.

She is pulling the skin up to below the breast, pulling it down, pulling the belly button through.  She is not doing any muscle tightening as she felt my muscles and did not feel any seperation.  By the sounds though, if I needed it she would do it.

Basically a tummy tuck - but for insurance purposes a panni removal.  It sounded to me like my surgeons office never performs just the panni removal.

Insurance doesn't cover the muscle tightening. For me they paid for the panni removal and we had to pay $2,800 for the mucle tightening.
