Tummy Tuck and Hernia Repair

For those of you who had a Tummy Tuck/LBL, MR and Hernia Surgery, do you know how much more you were charge for the hernia repair?  I am trying to figure out if it would be better to go ahead and have hernia surgery, heal up and then have the tummy tuck.  Insurance will pay for the hernia surgery but not if I have it the same time as tummy tuck.  I still would prefer just having it done all at once if it is not to much more.  Thanks for any information.

I suspect I may have a hernia.  I was told if I pay out-of-pocket for the hernia repair when the plastic surgeon does the LBL, I could be looking at an additional $5000, at least.  I want to have mine properly diagnosed as that additional expense is not one I am willing to pay when it is covered under insurance.  .  I'm surprised insurance will not pay if repaired during TT procedure.  If I had to choose, I would have the hernia repaired and then have the TT.  Complications, etc would be covered by insurance.

thats strange, looks like insurance would pay for it at the same time. i had TT and hernia repair at the same time and wouldnt do it any other way. What does your surgeon say?

I am meeting with the PS on April 4th so I don't know yet what he will say, but he is not one of the approved doctors by my insurance to do the hernia surgery and I heard that it is hard to get two doctors from different hospitals to set up at the same time.

I had my LBL and hernia repair at the same time. This significantly reduced the cost of my LBL procedure. They may ask you to do it separately so that they can make sure that they don't have to pay any extra costs for any complications.

I ended up in the hospital for 6 days with uncontrolled pain, breathing issues and unable to care for myself and too much going on for someone else to care for me. Now my insurance is saying that I had to be in the hospital because of my LBL and is trying not to pay. I'm going to have to fight this now and it sucks.

I had both done at the same time I have to say it was worth it to just have one healing time, it was easier for the plastic surgeon to do it while I was already open! I didn't know I had two until after my TT my surgeon told me and my insurance paid for that which also paid for the anistegia and 4days in hospital!
