Well as you all know i was happy as can be when my surgeon pulled my last drain last week. I was doing the happy dance around the house, my kids were looking at me like"mom why are you so happy" LOL, if they only knew the pains of those things but i hope they never do. Anyway , 2 days later Saturday morning i woke up and felt like my stomach weighed 100 pounds all by itself i started feeling sick and i had a fever of 102.6! Went to the emergency and they ran all kinds of test plus did a cat scan, cat scan showed massive amounts of fluid build up around the human mesh they put in at the time of Tummy tuck procedure for the hernia repair. So here i am still in the hospital, im on iv antibioctics or until my doc decides if he wants to take me back in the OR and do a drian there which seems really simple to me but then thats another surgery! Oh boyyyyy, My doc did drain some fluid by sticking a large needle and plunger the size of my arm almost and extracted 200 cc from my belly, he said the fluid didnt look infected but from all the symptons im having with chills and fever im sure it is.
I knew something was wrong when i looked down at my stomach and although im 4 weeks post op TT i had a small pouch that stuck out, it was flabby and always warm to touch, my husband thought i was crazy making things up but i wasnt i did infact have an infection going on. Well, pray for me yall cause i dont know if they are going to operate or let me go home on oral antibiotics for now. I'll keep everyone updated,

Thanks for reading,
Val

Hang in there!  This too shall pass!
I ended up with an infection after my abdominoplasty and although I was fortunate to just take oral antibiotics, my incision did open up from the added pressure, which then resulted in another surgery anyway 4 months later to close the incision that would not heal!

You are in the better place and it is probably better to drain out that fluid now than to let it build up!
Keep a smile on!

I may have had a few extra potholes along the way, but the journey has been good!

Wow...thanks for the reminder of how serious surgery and recovery can be. We read so many good ending tales of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery that we sometimes forget that this is dangerous stuff. I'm sure that you are in good hands, and that they will quickly figure out how to resolve your problem. Good for you for being wise enough to monitor your own progress and for getting help quickly. Feel better soon!

I'm sorry this is happening to you. I hope your not in any pain. I would hope that if your Dr is going to drain it, I hope he does it soon. But I am wondering if he just waiting to see if the antibiotics help first. I hope you improve soon
