Sports Bra Question
My surgery date is March 27. I'm having TT, thigh lift, and BL w/ silicone implants. I'm looking for sports bras now to prepare for post surgery period. Is the purpose of the sports bra to provide compression or is it just for comfort until healed? I never wore sports bras before and as I'm shopping I see there are many kinds and some don't seem like they will be comfortable. I'll probably buy several and leave the tags on so I can try and keep what I like, but I just wanted to know if I should be looking for styles that will provide a lot of compression or just find some that will be comfortable.
Thank you for any advice.

I was given 2 by my nurse.....they are front closure and very soft.
Then, I bought several from Walmart ... Front close, stretchy cotton
They were primarily for support and comfort.
I had my arms done at the same time as my breast lift, so front close bras were easiest to maneuver.
I usually wore a light t shirt or camisole under the bra .... To protect my suture line from the bra rubbing directly on it.

Compression and support is usually what the sports bras are used for. As the above poster said, grab one that is a front zipper closure. Sadly, this limits your choices. Your idea to buy a several bras and return what doesn't work is a good one. It is hard to know what size you will be after the lift (which usually reduces) and after the implants (increase).
I never found the sports bra to be comfy, but I wore it from the 2nd wee****il the 8th week after my BL. I had the implants inserted in a stage 2 surgery and haven't had to wear one yet as the implants are very high and I am waiting for them to finish dropping.

I got a front closure from Design Veronique that actually came apart in two pieces. It was really comfortable and the doctor's office loved it too. I got a second one later that was too scratch. Now I wear the 3-fer that you can get at Costco that goes over my head (don't want those babies to sag so I wear them at night) and find it really comfortable. What I liked about the DV bra is that it works great for exercise later. And the strap that they have you wear to drop your implants worked well with it.
Oh, I also got a no underwire Bali bra when I was able to move on to bras that's fantastic. Any store that has Bali seems to carry it. I get all the lift and cleavage without the dang wire. It's pretty much the only bra I could find in a 34/D without a wire.
Don't get me started on the DV body compression suit though. It was great on my thights and LBL but has this rubber thing around the chest under the bust that killed me the whole time I wore it. I finally would put wash clothes under it. And a fuzzy sock on each hip where my skin was stretched so tight that the closure bothered it. Can't wait to wear that darn thing again when I get my thigh lift. Ick.

The most comfortable sports bras that I've found were in Target, in the workout clothing section. They are by Champion. They have the regular style, and cami style with thinner straps. The lower band is wide and very soft. It was the most comfortable where it hits the scar line. They are soft enough to pull up from the bottom rather than over the head. They were about $16 I think. I bought 4. I wear them most of the time, but did buy a couple of wire free bras to wear with certain work shirts that the sports bra just woudln't work with. I did buy 2 of the zip ones, but the band is very uncomfortable and I can't wear them for long. I'm 3 weeks out and change bras 2x a day! LOL The surgical bras were ok, but I didn't like the front hooks - it hit just right on my bony sternum and was uncomfortable in a short time. Plus the straps had a thick velcro adjustment at the top of the shoulders that I didn't like.
The front closure sports bras I hated.. none of them fit me right.. I was so glad to wear a non front closure bra during my 4th week of recovery. I use the racer back bra sold at Target.. They feel comfy... I wear them all day no problems.. good support. 16.99 each I have 7 of them. I use aquaphor by Eucerin on my scars daily and wash and hang dry the bras daily. I also wear support garments like the torso thing and panty/short support style .. I fancy the barely there brand right now.. In the beginning, I preferred Assets more snug. Now, I prefer more breathing room.. I am 11 weeks out from Extended TT, BA/BL,Mons lift, Lateral thigh lift with lipo.
I wear some underwire bras but its really a challenge to wear them all day.. I like the security of the sports bra too..
I spent a lot of money on 2 sports bras about 90 dollars each.. There was a lot of compression but I could hardly breathe certain days due to the swelling..
