Question for those that had Ty???
I've been reading some other post about binders and I will ask my surgeon Friday but just wondering if the binder is given or included in a tt or did anyone have to pay for theirs on the side if so how much do the run? Thank you just tryn to make sure I have money for everything I may need its all happening so fast!.
I got mine at the surgical center..woke up with it from surgery! They gave me an extra one too (which you need as you will get blood on it and then you can use it when the other is being washed). I had to pay for both of them...nothing is free! I honestly don't remember how much they were. I am 2 months out and still wear them 24/7. IT actually is very comfortable and supportive so I don't mind wearing it.

Mine was included in the price of surgery.
At my last pre op appt, I got a bag of supplies .... ABD pads, gauze, swabs, ointments, etc.
Then, I came home from surgery in a binder .... And at my first post op appt, I got another binder.
I will move from these 2 binders to spanx-like garments that I purchase myself in a few weeks.
My surgeon does 1 year of follow up as part of the surgery price as well.
I will see him weekly for the first month ... Then monthly for 3 months, then at 6, 9, 11 and 12 months for check ups.

My binder was included on the quote but was itemized so I saw a line detail for "garments $100". I was delighted that I was provided two and a third one to travel with. I checked the prices out on makemeheal.com and I was charged less than what it would have cost me to buy on my own.
Be sure and ask your surgeon as you mentioned. There are lots of different kinds of garments out there. If he wants you to get your own, have him give you a detailed description or a name of a manufacturer - better yet the website where you can buy it. Don't forget to ask him if he will later want you to move to a Stage 2 garment. It might be worth buying that in advance of surgery as you might not feel like trying things on even a month post-op.

I paid $165 for mine, through my surgeon's office. It looks like this:

It has an open crotch so it doesn't have to be removed to use the restroom. both sides have bra like closures and a zipper running the entire length.
I was also given something like this (http://www.tummytuckformen.com/images/tummy-tuck-abdominoplasty-surgical-drains-detail.jpg) for use when I was washing my garment. It's velcro and, it seems, regardless of how tight I make it, it never really makes me feel 'held in'.
I've been wearing mine for nearly 5 weeks and they've told me they would like me to continue wearing it for at least the next 4 weeks, although I can switch to Spanx if I'm particularly sick of what I've got. I generally find it more comfortable to wear it than to not wear it.

I ended up going through 4 binders. All provided with the cost of my procedure. I went to a government funded hospital and everything was included. Good thing too because this cosmetic stuff is beyone breaking my bank account!
