My surgeon beat me up!
Let me preface this by saying i'm taking a lot of oxycodone and not very coherent. Monday 3/5 I went in and had a nose job, deviated septum repair, bl/ba, lbl and was to repair one hernia. It was already an ambitious surgery but then turned worse when it was found I had 3 bad hernias (clustered I think he said?) where fat was sticking through which was hard to work on, etc.
That added another 3.5 hours to my OR time, putting me at 14-15 hours on the table. I don't really remember waking up, but I do remember them trying to get my husband to take me home after that. I screamed bloody murder and swore every bad word i could. I was in sooo much pain.
Fortunately my surgeon decided to admit me to the hospital next door. They could have rolled me over but instead they bumped me around on a ride in the ambulance. The pain was excruciating for me, and I am still struggling with a lot of pain.
I stayed in the hospital from Tuesday until Saturday. I could barely drink water let alone eat anything so I remained on a liquid diet during that time. Everything was so tight on my abdomen it squished my sleeve and made it very difficult to drink.
They tried to take out the catheter 4 days in and I still couldn't pee. They tried again when I got home and I still couldn't do it. So now I'm stuck at home with a cath bag. My boobs barely hurt by my nose and abdomen are killing me.
The hardest thing was that when my nose was packed with these huge splints, I couldn't breath well, plus mucus was draining into my lungs which made me want to cough. Ouch! Plus just in general basic things were difficult like breathing and taking in liquids let alone walking.
My surgeon was great checking up on me and making suggestions but mostly the hospital staff were really not good. At one point I was screaming and crying hysterically and hyperventilating and begging for morphine. It was 2 in the morning.. they waited too long to give me pain meds and I needed something fast.
I don't think a lot of pain meds work that great on me.. I can't figure out which ones do and which ones don't. I'm at home and still can barely get around or get comfortable, and am looking at a long recovery I am sure. I'm exhausted just typing this so I think I'll go back to sleep. Thanks for reading and thanks for all the well wishes!

I am so sorry and completely understand how the pain management is tricky.. what I found worked for me was taking 1/2 tablet of the pain pill Oxy every 2-3 hours.. until day 5 or 6.. Good luck on your recovery.. My pain and discomfort from PS definitely changed my perspective of pain management and any additional surgeries I was thinking of have been put off until I can forget the pain from the 1st round of PS.

I am so sorry you were in so much pain. I can't believe they almost sent you home that first day. It's good news that your home now, I hope you can find a way to get comfortable. From what I have read here the pain lessens a little each day, I hope that's true for you. It sure didn't help any with the level of care they gave you at the hospital.
