Hi everyone,
I have been meeting with several doctors trying to make my choice.

I was wondering if you could share with me examples of what the quote you were given covered.
Things like meds, garments, follow ups, seroma's, infections etc. Also how does your doctor handle revisions if necessary?

Thanks~!

Hi! This is a great question and I think one that many folks forget to ask.

My quote included the standard surgeon fees, anasthesia fees, operating theater fees, hospital overnight fees. In addition it included the following (some of these were itemized on the quote, others turned out to just be included):

- pain pump
- garments ( I received 2 garments so that one could be drying while wearing the other one. I also was give a 3rd thigh to ribcage garment in one size larger just for the purpose of traveling the 21hours home.)
- all pre-op visits, collection of medical history, and lab requests
- all post-op visits (no charge for standard follow-up post-op and no charge for any visit to deal with any problem that I had (seromas, open wound, needing staples, etc.)
- in office ultrasounds
- A Vitamedica care package that included Bromelain and Arnica and vitamins
- a front closure sports bra ( I didnt have time to buy one so the nurse went out and got one for me while I was in the hospital)
- a wide assortment of medical supplies that I needed at different stages including an medical grade antibacterial wash for my inscisions, gauze, tape, tool to remove staples, xeroform dressing, scissors, tweezers
-24 hour access to my surgeon and his team to discuss any issue. 2months post-op I called him at home in the evening on a Saturday for help with my open wound.

My surgeon told me that revisions are something that he hopes won't be necessary but in many cases of MWL patients can indeed be necessary.  Some types of revisions can be accomplished in his office in which case there is no charge.  Other revisions require the use of a surgical center operating room and an anestheisologist.  There would be no charge from my surgeon for his time or his team but I would have to cover the costs of the center and the anesthesia.

I had staged surgery and did require a revision on one of my breasts from the BL.  My surgeon handled it during stage 2 as I was already paying the OR and other fee.

Raven,
I so enjoy your posting style! ( as I do a few others as well).
Informative and concise and for me easy to process in my brain even ar 04:45 when I should really be asleep for the night after traveling but alas the night-owl in me has struck yet again!

Also Raven, my iPhone does not "allow" me to pm people as well as I would like and I'm too lazy to turn on my "tv type old-fashioned" style of a computer...
In any case I would be thrilled to be your pen-pal or better yet be able to talk with you (and or others) directly and I would pay for the call but of course only if you allow me (hey, fear not, as I do not know your true name nor contact info aside from OH). I live alone and at times am lonely but althoughbinspeak and write in Hebrew, English being my 1st language I prefer it yet to being able to communicate and with whom and certain topics do not always fit together at the same time. Specifically to do with WLS and it's journey (and as in my case also revision) I have OH and the forum in Hebrew but not so many on Hebrew forum are at the stage of Plastics. And my friends that are English-speaking think I'm totally nuts for having had WLS instead of being able to succeed at dieting ( I don't even know your background but do know that there are members on Plastics Forum from losing their weight without any surgery and fantastic if someone succeeds (and succeeded at what I did not and could not do on my own!).
I really need a friend that understands this journey and struggles of ups and downs along the way from being fat/obese to losing and completing the process and why the Plastics means so much to us on the forum. So if you decide to permit me to be your friend not just on OH, please pm me with your email and or phone details but also when is best for me to talk with you.
Either way I understand If you are hesitant/suspicious- you still write posts that blow my mind!
I am still waiting on my letter or hopeful approval for boob job from HMO...

Raven...what great information! I love this board for the information I get here! I would have never thought to ask all these questions. I am waiting to hear if my insurance will cover my surgeries, and I know there will be some out of pocket expense for me, since my PSbe doing a bit more work than insurance will pay for. I just want a realistic idea of what kind of money I need to be prepared to pay!

Thanks again!
