TT Insurance Coverage? Long Island Plastic Surgeons?
Hi All... im a little over 2 years out ( & 130ish lbs down) & i think its about that time! I went for a consult to a plastic surgeon here on Long Island the other nite. They said that they have never had success in getting tummy tucks covered by insurance post Gastric Bypass as it is seen as 'cosmetic'. Ive heard many people say that tummy tucks are covered after lapband or bypass.
So, have YOU gotten your tummy tuck covered ( or any other plastics)?
Was it a battle to get it covered?
What did you say/how did you say it to win that battle?
And for my fellow Long Islanders- what plastic surgeon(s) did you use that you had great success with & are super happy with the results??
Any & all input is super appreciated!

Hi, I had an extended tummy tuck w/muscle repair covered by my insurance. Went in for my 1st consultation and doctor took pics and said he would send everything in to the insurance...he said about scheduling surgery while I was there...told him I couldnt afford to self pay but he said don't worry the insurance will cover it....so I scheduled it and he was right, I got my approval right away and everything was taken care of. I did have my family doctor write a letter saying I was being treated for skin rashes which is actually yeast infections under the stomach fold of the hanging skin and nothing was working and he also felt removal of the skin is what I needed....good luck and I have heard people say they were turned down but they kept fighting it and eventually they were approved.
