Just wondering has anyone have a tt and not use a lift recliner? If so how was it were u able to get up with out it and without the help of others? Many people have tolled me to rent one but I'm having trouble finding one in my local area to rent! Medical store are to much, or don't have one and newspapers are to much or broken an rent a centers don't have them! Do I really need it or can I do it with out one!

I just used my reclining sofa in my living room. I didn't have a lift recliner. I was able to slide to the front of the chair and slowly stand up. For me, getting up wasn't as hard as getting comfortable once I was sitting down (I had an LBL, so i had an incision going all the way around.)

I didn't use one. I just used my regular recliner in my living room. To get up and walk for the first week or so, I used a walker. I was able to use it to pull up on to stand.

Do you have a Rent-a-Center near where you live? That's where I've rented my lift recliner from.

I used just a regular recliner too. I ended up buying a big ugly but comfy one off of Craigslist. I paid 60 dollars for it whi*****luded delivery. I am hoping to just sell it for maybe 40 in a couple months when I'm done with it. I have also seen lift recliners on Craigslist too, but they are around 200 dollars. I don't think you would need a lift one, but if you got one I am sure you could sell it for what you paid. I had multiple procedures out of he area so I was in the hospital clinic and a hotel bed for my first 12 days. I didn't slep as well, but it was doable. I just used tons of pillows and it's harder to change positions. I used the pillows because I had post op instructions to not lay flat. I am sleeping a lot better now that I am home and using my recliner instead of the bed. But part of that might be because I am just a little farther out, plus it's always nice to be home.

Hi, I had my tummy tuck last September.  I was gong to rent a regular recliner and had it all coordinated when this friend of mine told me she had a lift recliner that I could borrow, so I had it brought over and put in my bedroom.  To be honest, I think if I had a regular recliner I would have been fine.  A big tip that my sister in law gave me was to wear a nylon type of nightie or pj because you can slide easily off any chair, bed, etc...nothing sticks.  This was a fantastic tip.

If you really are hoping to find a lift recliner, why not put an ad in the newspaper...perhaps there is someone who can lend you one.  They are heavy, so you will need someone with good muscles to get it for you.  The one that my friend lent me came apart into two pieces, but the portion with the motor, etc., was extremely heavy.

If you can't find one, a regular recliner will do.  I have also read on here that some have just used their sofa or a big chair with lots of pillows for propping up.   I am sure everything will work out fine.

I tried out a lift recliner in a store and decided it wasn't worth the money.  Even though they are lifting you they still place a strain on your abdomen.

Thanks for asking this question. I've been contemplating if it was worth getting a lift recliner or not. I have a regular recliner already so I think I am just going to stick with that and a walker that I have at my disposal.

The biggest worry I have that my caretaker is my mother, who walks with a cane. She's positive she will have no problems "pulling or bracing" me the first few days if I need help to get up. I'm more afraid of hurting her than me.

To the experts - which would it be? A pull so I don't use my abs or a brace and I would use my abs enough to stand on my ow with her stability?

I just used my husband's lazy boy at first, as I could use the lever to drop the feet and then rock forward with the chair (no bending) and wind up on my feet. Once I had better control of my body, I moved to the recliner end of the couch and gave him back the lazy boy. Since the couch doesn't rock, I needed to use my core muscles more when I was there.

Everyone is different but I didn't use a recliner and I was 58 when I had the surgery.  I used alot of pillows to prop myself up in bed.  I had someone stay with me the first night just in case but I was fine.  I've been doing pilates for the past few years and I know that has been a big help with my recovery first from the TT and then from the thigh lift.
