Standing up straight?

How long until you all were able to stand up straight? I'm still standing with a little bit of a slouch at three weeks post op, and was wondering if this is normal. Is there anything I can do that would speed up the process? Not being able to stand straight is starting to give me a bit of a back ache. Ouch!

With my LBL, I totally slouched for a few weeks. Once I felt up to it, I started stretching my back and conciously practiced good posture - with memories of my ballet instructors and their nagging in my head. I am about 3 months out and am standing much better now.

Good to know, I'm six days out and truly wonder how I'll ever get my spine and muscles back in proper alignment after this.

I think it depends on the surgery and the person.  I had a 3/4 belt lift, bl/ba and I was standing up straight within 5 days.

I am 15 days out from a LBL and I am starting to stand up straighter although I still hunch over.  The surgeon said it may continue for another week or so but NOT to pu**** to avoid putting strain on my incisions.  A few posters recommend using a heating pad on the top portion of your back.  I never did that but instead relied on pain pills to take the edge off.  That way I could get up and move around a bit more comfortably.  Hang in there...I'm still slumping.  I get a few funny looks from senior citizens I pass in stores.  They probably think, "She's too young to have osteoporosis!"  ha ha

Does walking bent over not pull on your back stitches from a LBL?

The bend, at least for me, is more from the ribcage downwards.  It didnt put strain on the area just above my butt where my LBL scarline was.  It did howeve cause some between the shoulder muscle spams.

Lorilea, cool, 3/4 belt lift.  This is the first time I have heard of that.  I assume that goes further than what they call a "table-to-table"  or "hip-to-hip."  Am I right?  Can you explain what the extra benefits were?  Could they tighten up your hips better?  And how about the buttt?

Thanx

It is  pretty much what it's called, it goes 3/4 the way around.  So the opposite side of your hips than a normal tt.  This allowed them to get more off my hips.  I wouldn't say it did much for my butt, but they were able to pull up some on my legs.  I litterly can barely even pinch skin on my hips.

If i had it to do over I probably would have done a complete LBL to improve my butt, but i am pretty happy with the results

I was upright in a week or so.

At my one week post-op visit I was given instructions to begin to straighten up.

He said to stop if it got too painful but to keep trying.

I did. I had no probs.
