Exhaustion after Surgery?
Hi all,
I'm just over 3 weeks out from my abdominoplasty (with vertical incision) and I'm still totally exhausted. I can sleep 8-10 hours a night AND nap during the day. I don't know if i'm exhausted because i'm healing or if there's some other reason. I'm assuming this is normal... can anyone share their own experience?

My tt is happening on Thursday, but my surgeon has tole me to expect to be tired for several weeks.
He said that I will need to sleep 10 hours a night and will still want a nap during the day.
I work from home and will be able to take a nap during my lunch time
Your question sounds very normal to me.
The positive side to sleep is that your body is using that time to heal and you at not eating while you are asleep ... LOL

Oh good, I keep forgetting to ask my surgeon when I see him, but it sounds like I'm right on target sleep-wise. My husband got concerned that my blood levels had dropped again (a couple of days after being released from the hospital I was readmitted for a blood transfusion) and that THAT was why I was so tired. I think this info should ease his mind at least until we see the doc again on Wednesday.
I've been like that sine my surgery on 2/23. Anytime I have surgery, the anesthesia knocks the crap out of me for a few weeks. I don't know why it takes so long to get it out of my system, but it does. I surely wish I could nap during the day for the next week or two...but I don't think my boss would appreciate it.
I had my TT almost 7 weeks ago and I was very tired for several weeks! Atleast a month..it is normal. Your body is healing from major surgery. I would sleep lots during the night and then nap during the day...felt like such a slug. I finally get to return to the gym tomorrow..so hoping more of my energy will return. I am not as tired as before but not as energetic as when I exercised..does that make sense!
It will get better.
