BCBS Approved Arm Lift! Arms and Breasts Scheduled for March 14th

BCBS Fed approved my arm lift, which shocked us all since my arms are not that heinous. I could have lived with them if I had really needed to. Of course, they denied the breast lift. I was disappointed but not surprised.

I have my pre-op appointment on Monday the 5th and the arms and breast lift with augmentation is scheduled for the morning of March 14th. Dr Lawrence could have done it the 7th, but I already have plans for next weekend that my son would be crushed if I had missed those.

I am scared and excited and relieved. With the insurance covering the arms, the breasts will cost me a lot less with them being done at the same time. {happy dance}

Next stop - thighs and butt and then I should be done!

congrats on your upcoming surgeries.  BCBS fed covered my extended tummy tuck and I am going in June for BL/BA...doctor said they wouldnt cover it so I didnt even try it...did you need any requirements to have them pay for the arm lift?  I guess it can't hurt me to see if they will cover the arm lift for me, I need one but knew I couldnt afford it along with the BL/BA.  Thanks for your info.  Good Luck!

That's great that your insurance is covering your arms!  I'd like to know how you did that?  How bad are your arms?  Did they take pictures of it and send in?  Did you have to document any problems iwth your arms?  Just wondering.  I need my arms done, along with Tummy tuck and thighs but i'm not having any of the rashing or other issues.  There is just a lot of haning skin and is unsightly.  My insurance covers "skin excisions" but I'm wondering exactly what thye will have to see to approve it.
Do you have pics of your lbl on your profile? Can you friend me so I can see? Thanks!

Congratulations!! That is quite an accomplishment.  I have BCBS Fed too and I would love to hear how were you able to get it approved.  I would love to have my insurance pay for my arm lift.  I am having problems with my skin under my left breast and under my belly, but not in my arms.  It is so unusual for the insurance to cover an arm lift.

I wish you all the best on your upcoming surgery.

I am very interested in your post as I have BCBS Fed. and am about to look for a dr. to do my arm lift.  My arms are very bad, but 2 other drs. offices have said insurance never pays for an arm lift.  So I would really like to find a dr. who would be willing to help me with this.  I would really appreciate if you would give me your dr's number, either in a PM if your prefer, or here.  We are really struggling to find the money for this operation, and if I could get insurance to pay, it would be incredible.    Thanks so much and good luck with your surgery!

Honestly, I have no clue what my surgeon submitted to get them to agree to cover it. From what I understand, that I live in the humid South does play a part. It is one of the reasons the VA (Dept of Veterans affairs) was agreeable to covering my recostruction. Trying to keep those areas dry and uninfected in the humidity is impossible. The VA would have covered my arms and mastoplexy too, but I have so little tissue left now that I would be lucky to be a B cup. :( I really need the augmentation to feel like me again.

The VA also wanted to do the breast work in 2 surgeries and Dr. Lawrence will do it in one. It made no sense to me to tighten up the breasts and then further stretch the tissue and skin later with implants - which could be ugly with already stretched out skin. The out-of-pocket cost it worth it for me to just have one healing time.

Adding.. need more coffee...

Alas, I have no pictures from the LBL in December. I am having some complications (I reject stitches and some other stuff is going on that I cannot talk about - legal) and I am going to need a revision when my thights and buttocks are done. I will end up with a lot more scars as a result.

Tell them Marlies C sent you! I really love the entire staff. They have been wonderful.

They took a TON of pictures and they documented the issues I have been having. I get rashes and the excess skin does inhibit normal day-to-day activity plus exercising, which I did mention in my paperwork.

Thanks so much for the information about your dr.  I have been considering Dr. Lawrence but haven't made an appt. to meet with her yet.  Maybe it's time to take that step!
