creating a rash

Even as a lawyer, the BS, and the unethical and unfair practices of insurance companies bothers me a lot more. I'd never fake a rash but considering everything insurance does to screw ppl from getting treatment is much worse than faking a rash.

True Lawyer person! But I believe that we have to start with ourselves. If we want better, we do better and hope that somewhere down the road we are rewarded for our good behavior, even if it is the knowledge of knowing we did the right thing. I paid a lot for my last round, I stayed home to make sure I healed properly and in November I moved to a very tiny studio apt to start saving money for my next phase. I am in my 40's and living like a college girl! I sold most of my furniture to fit in this tiny apt but my reconstructive surgery is important to me! I bring dates and friends hear and I here the comments! I do not care! I have a warm place to sleep every night and I have a goal! That gorgeous, 3 bedroom home was not allowing me to save enough! Life goes on....

I know my opinion is probably not a popular one but I felt like sharing anyway. I agree that insurance companies do not often consider what is in the best interests of their customers, and do anything to save a buck. They are in the business of business, not people. It is, imo, criminal when they don't do everything they can to support people's health.

I know some very ethical, moral people who have considered doing this very thing to create rashes. I understand that people a lot of times need these surgeries desperately and I support them in doing what they need to do.

This is why health care reform is such an issue, because the practices of the consumer-based insurance companies is more focused on making money than in doing what is right or ethical. For me, I will always support PEOPLE first, over business practices.

It's too bad people have to resort to such measures and they aren't just helped in the first place, whether it's plastics or WLS. Plastics should be considered reconstructive not cosmetic in my opinion anyway, especially for those who have lost significant amounts of weight.

It was a question plain and simple, no need for pitchforks and fire. I'll probably get yelled at, too. It won't be the first and certainly won't be the last. =) Peace and love everyone!
