Keloid scars

Well, I had my 8 month follow up from my arm scar revision and BL last week. My BL is doing amazing. I gained a few lbs over the holidays and it seems to have gone there - so my boobs look super terrific.

My keloid scars have returned to my arms as bad as before. I'm regretting doing the revision in some ways - as now I'm 10months behind in healing.

We discussed some options and I was disappointed that none of them was a miracle cure. He feels that steroid injections won't work - the scars are too long and wide. That they'd just make for spotty scars, where at least now they are even. He did mention further revision and radiation treatments? But that it increased cancer risk in 10-15 years. Um - no thanks. I'd rather scars than cancer!

Good news is that the scars "blanch" when you push on them. He says that means they will eventually go white/fade. He has put me back in my compression sleeves for 18months (ugh) at night to hurry that process along. 5 days later and I was actually able to sleep the night through with the damn things last night. And my scars are noticeably lighter in the morning for an hour or two after removing them, so that's a good sign I guess.

He also said he wouldn't do thighs on me because of the scars. And I guess I agree on that.

Anyone else go through this?

I too have issues with keloid scaring.  So My PS has me put paper tape over my scars and I need to do that for 6 months.  He says that will prevent them...  I wonder if you had the other surg you wnated and they did that ..would that help you.

I get some SERIOUS rashes from paper tape - I can imagine what that would look like! lol

I did use silicone gell strips for 3 months after surgery - with paper tape at first, and then my compression sleeves.  It didn't help at all - no difference.  As a matter of fact, I used that with my original surgery too - everywhere but the armpits (couldn't make it stay there!).  And guess what?  My armpits are the only area that is flat and white...

My scar on the abdomen -TT upside-downT incision is very keloid a d hypertropic. I call it ropey. This will be addressed I. My surgery in May if my HMO approved the boob job.
Now I'm concerned a scar revision mightn't work on me.

My arms scars were certainly ropey.  Great word.  Looked like a twined rope for sure.  And they came right back.  Not as ropey this time...softer - but just as wide/dark.

I'm 10 months post arm lift and fleur de lis TT.  My arm incisions are red and obvious. ( I also work compression and silicone strips for 3 months).

I had a open wound with the TT and the surgeon wants to revise that incision.  I don't think I'm going to do that.  My tummy is still very tight and uncomfortable.  No one sees these incisions and I don't wear a bikini.  I just don't want the "chance" of anything else not healing well.

Best wishes.
