My corset tt surgery continues....

Hi all,
I have been doing pretty good with my TT recovery.  I had my TT corset surgery done on Dec 19th and I am loving the results.  The front looks wonderful not missing what use to be there.  I had my left back side a part that just would not heal up.  It opened around the second week in Jan and just would not close back up.  I also had 2 spots that they call Keltoids (sp?) where the TT cut stopped and kinda looked ugly in which apparently is fixed with a day surgery.  I was not thinking of having anything done again so soon but since my side was not healing up I told my doctor I wanted all fixed once and for all.  Well that was done yesterday.  I think that was more painful than the tummy tuck.  Why beats me!  When they woke me up I was frozen with pain.  The nurse said she could not give me any more moraphine since she had given me six doses.  I said then I need something else.  If you want me to move and get dressed get me something else.  Doctor said to give me a shot of Dilaudid and that made all the difference in the world.  I could move again and all has been good since.  I have stitches on both sides of my back but I can tell my butt looks 20 years younger.  LOL  I am planning on going to work tomorrow.  I am a little slower and do have some pain meds but its not has bad as I was thinking yesterday.  I cant wait to see how this will look once the stitches and swelling goes away.  I am kinda happy i have it done now and know I will really love it once I completely heal and all swelling goes away.  My tummy still is swollen some but gets flatter every day.  Just had to share.  I dont know if anyone else had this done.  Onward and upwards I say.  I am so over guaze, tape and bandages!

Amen!  Glad you are on the road to recovery!

When I had my TT, I had some necrosis and it opened up.  I had an opening that I was packing 4 times a day from August until October.  I was so happy when the surgeon said lets go in and close things up, but I totally understand the pain you are refering to as I have never woken up in so much pain.  I did not understand!  The healing after the "fix" surgery went so quick and it felt so good to not have to pack my wound.

Best luck to you!  Take it easy!

I may have had a few extra potholes along the way, but the journey has been good!

Thanks!  OMG, packing 4x a day????  Wow I bet that felt like an eternity!  Yes, it takes less time to get ready in the morning but wearing clothes with stitches drives me nuts!  I went back to work today since I have a sit down job.  Besides wearing clothes moving in and out of the car is still painful but I am tolerating it.  I just keep thinking the finish line is in site!!!!  I will be glad when the stiches are gone and all the swelling is gone.  So now my tummy is still swollen some and my lower back is now swollen.  Hummm matching set.  At least I can sleep with no problem.  Thanks for the kind words! ~Sharon

Janice,

The corset tummy tuck is a technique that some plastic surgeons use to give your figure an hour glass figure.  It includes the muscle tightening as well.  I am very happy with my results.  My doc went past the hip bones and about a quarter around to the back.  At both back ends the way that the skin is pulled it leaves some extra skin and leaves a section that is  a keloid.  Its a section that is not pretty can be bothersome and can be removed with day surgery.  With those 2 sections being cut and lifted manages to lift the butt area as well.  So I almost had an entire lower body lift except for about six inches.  I am not sure but some lower body lifts or TT do not include the muscle tightening but that is one thing I wanted for sure.  Every plastic surgeon has there own technique.  This is one my doctor has developed and has perfected over the years and has taught other surgeons to do as well.   ~Sharon

I am glad your doing better. I am only a week out and I think my biggest fear is my wound opening up.  I go between thinking I should work to be active in hopes it promotes better healing. And then I go back to thinking that maybe I shouldn't because I I might move the wrong way and open it up. I think I just need to not dwell on it. But I am glad that the worst is behind you.

Jennifer,

Thanks so much!  You are only a week out.  Please take it easy.  You can walk but I would not pu****  You have plenty of time to get back in the groove.  Your main focus now should be on healing.  Let your doctor tell you when its ok to work out.  My nurse said no core exercises for a min of six months.  I only walked on my treadmill and still somehow I managed to have something open up.  Dont worry about it, no matter what they can fix it. The worst is behind you for sure!  Take care, Sharon

Thanks Sharon. I am not really even thinking about working out at this point but I also don't want to get used to laying around all day. It's funny how drs differ in stuff. I just read a post that said there dr said they can go back to working out after 3 weeks. What a difference, but for me I think I will just play it on the safe side and take the extra time. I know I will loose a lot of cardio and strength ability but I can gain it back.
