Ultimately I wasn't able to use this source as there was nothing listed in my area, but I figured I'd post it as it may be useful for others.

I ultimately rented a lift chair from Rent-a-Center for $125 (month). When I went to see it they literally unpacked a brand new chair so I'm happy.

Thanks so much! I asked about this a bit ago but was having trouble finding stuff online. A lot of websites didn't have full information. I think the rent-a-center option is great. Have you tried the chair yet? Is it comfy?

I was going to get one of these - my husband was checking into them while I was away, but ultimately, I didn't need it.  I know that everyone is different, but I am having no difficulties getting up and down - so I am very thankful for that!

The Rent-a-Center chair was comfy...of course I'll know better after my surgery.

As for needing the chair it definitely is a personal decision. I have bursitis and arthritis in one of my hips and so for me I know that I will benefit tremendously from the chair, especially when I am home alone.

Pride Mobility is one of the biggest manufacturers of lift recliners.  I went to their web site (www.pridemobility.com/liftchairs), clicked on, "Provider Locator", typed in my zip code, and called all the medical supply companies that came up.  Don't trust the little icons in terms of whether they carry lift recliners or not...they are incorrect, so definitely call.  I was able to rent a top-of-the-line 3-way lift recliner for 4 weeks for $225.  After my surgery this Wednesday I'll be able to tell if it's worth it!

Is this the chair you got?

I just put in an order for it so I hope that's the chair.  I'm sure I'll need it.

Yes, that's the chair. It was delivered today. I think it is very comfortable. My husband is very impressed with it too. There is no doubt in my mind that I will be happier in this chair than struggling to wriggle out of my bed without the use of my abs or arms.

I very happy with both lift chairs I rented, then bought, from Rent-A-Center. I keep them at the hotels for my out of town patients, and they are a big help.  One of them had an issue with the cord or the control, and they sent somebody out to fix it pretty quickly.

A regular recliner is not such a  great option because while they are great to lay IN, they are hard to get OUT of.  It's really a 2-person job.

The lift chairs easily allow you to get up and out of them on your own without straining the abdominal muscle repair.

Thanks again Cindy for this tip! I went to the rent-a-center and tried out this chair and it is perfect! I'm all set to have it delivered and this is a load off of my mind because I was having a hard time finding a resource for this. Greatly appreciated!
