Made my decision & I HAVE DATE!!!

As we all know making this decision entails a great deal of consideration of so many factors. For me the final factor was my son’s health. He made us aware of some health problems and I’ve been taking him to doctors for tests ever since. Next week we’ll get his biopsies back (fingers crossed), but we already know that he is going to need to have surgery. I know that Dr. Sauceda would perform a miracle on me, but I know me & if I were far from home I would be worried & that wouldn’t be good for my recovery.

I had gone for a consult at the beginning of the year at Mt. Sinai Hospital (NYC). They have a clinic where the Chief Resident performs surgery under the supervision of a board certified plastic surgeon. Three weeks ago I inquired if I could be put on the surgical schedule. Yesterday morning he called to ask if next Wednesday would be too soon for me! He will be supervised by a top ps who is known for his work on weight loss patients. I am way beyond excited! I could never have afforded to have walked into that doctor’s office, to have him guide my doctor is amazing. I am certain I will be thrilled with my results!!!

I hadn’t told my youngest children about my plans of having ps. I had always planned on waiting until I had my date. So, as the words plastic surgery leave my lips my 15 y/o son says, “You don’t need that you look fine; you don’t have wrinkles." Sweet, blind boy. My 13 y/o daughter I knew would be a completely different story as she is the inquisitive one. When I told her the first thing she said was, “I’m sorry you’re going to go through a lot of pain, but you’re going to look better than me." I then proceeded to have another one of my “talks" about my battles with food & how it is important she never make the mistakes I made with food. My adult children are all very excited for me.

I’ve spent the past two days shopping & preparing the house. My husband is on vacation this week (kids too - schools are closed) so he’ll be home with me for the first few days.

Duh, I never said what I’m having done…tummy tuck (it doesn’t seem like I will need muscle repair - pretty hard to believe after 6 pregnancies) & arm lift. I will finally bid farewell to this hanging belly which I’ve had since 1985 (only made worse by weight loss) & my bat wings!!!

Congratulations!  I can't wait to hear how you do.  I would like to have the same surgery some time this year too.

Hello Cindy,   Congrats on the surgery date!  I had a TT with tightening and arms done on Jan 6th and back to work on the 17th managing a restaurant.  I have to say that I am one of the lucky ones that heals very fast.  I posted pics a few days ago with the results 4 weeks out.  I am thrilled.  You will be, too!  I must say that I only needed pain meds the first 3 days and since then I have had only mild discomfort. I am now pain free and some swelling still remains in the abdomen.  Nothing is holding me back from hours on the Mardi Gras parade route.  Keep us posted.
I am not big boned!  Bones don't jiggle!

Thanks, everyone! Lisa, I’ve been following your progress. I can only hope I am as fortunate as you! It’s been a whirlwind of getting my labs, my PCP was great she’s squeezed me in & will clear me tomorrow. Today I had my first ever Brazilian wax. I feel like I am on the way to becoming the woman I haven’t been in decades!

Thanks dasie! I have a cousin who went to medical school & did her residency there & her daughter is now a med student there. I know I will be in great hands with the staff there.
