Thinner waist, thicker thigh ladies--Jean brand recommendations??
Hi -
I love, love, 17/21 jeans. They are TJ Maxx brand, and you can only buy them in store. Stretchy skinny jeans that fit like heaven! They ride just above my hip bones, but my belly fits in them nice and comfy with no muffin top.

I have always had the small waist in proportion to hips and thighs problem even before WLS. It is not quite so bad now. My favorite fitting jeans I have found so far are EARL jeans. I love them. They usually have them at TJ Maxx or Ross and are pretty inexpensive. The pair I have now are getting too big, but I am not going to buy any more till after surgery. I have enough jeans right now to last me until warmer weather.
Hi! I know I am late to reply but I was in Houston recovering from surgery when you posted this and couldn't respond. I made a point to remember the jean post though because that is what I was doing in the days before surgery - jean shopping! Or maybe I should call it "jean hating".
I had the same problem that you described. I also add that even though I am proud of my new shape and size I don't seem to share the desire of the masses to wear a jean that is so tight that they look like leggings from the 80's. My search was further frustrated by my lack of desire to wax my pubic region in order to accomodate the low rises of many of the jean styles. A 3 inch rise? Am I built strangely? This puts the waistline just above my pubic area. JUST ABOVE!
I guess fashion is what you get used to. I am 41 years old. I don't want to wear what some refer to as "mom's jeans" but I don't want to expose the entire upper portion of my rump when I squat down. The last time I was thin (which was high school and college), I recall jeans being comfortable pants that you could throw on any time and go out in. Sure, there was that everlasting search for the perfect pair of jeans that would make one's butt appear to be smaller and more spectacular than it actually was, but women were not struggling to find jeans that would cover their bikini underwear!
In the end I found that most things that were labeled "boyfriend jeans" worked for me. These can be purchased to match your waist size but are cut looser in the thighs. The fabrics tend to be more broken in and the rise is in between the hip bones and the belly button. The jeans tend to have a cuff. They might be potentially short on a tall person. I'm 5' 4" so they are great for me.The bad news is that the jeans have had tremendous success in sell thru and aren't being restocked fast enough by some manufacturers.
Levi's makes a 501 boyfriend jean. You have to hunt for it since it is mostly out of stock now. The Gap makes several varieties although the fit can be quite different between them. The one I found that worked the best for me was called Sexy Boyfriend Jean. If you check their website, the version I bought is being worn by the model bending backwards. It is not actually available on the website anymore but it is still in stores but with few sizes. I visited 7 Gaps to find my size.
Good luck!
