any other Fluid Retainers like me?? I have found the answer!!

Good morning all. I just wanted to share.

I retain fluid big time...for any little reason...
Too much salt? Sure.
Too many carbs? Of course.
Time of the month? Certainly.

All these things translate to a pound or two or three on the scale.
My upper belly pooches out too.
I hate it.

Anyway...I saw someone recently that I had not seen in a while and she has dropped a bunch of weight.
I asked her how she did it and she did it with the Flat Belly Diet.
She mentioned the water that is part of this plan.
Fights bloat and makes you pee.
I was all over it as I am not one to use Lasix or stuff like that.

So, I started it Monday...the water, not the diet.
8 glasses a day- water with cucumbers, lemons, ginger and mint.
Peeing all day long.
All. Day. Long.
Got on the scale this morning, down 4 pounds in 4 days.
Rings are loose again and upper belly flat is back down.

So, if you have a problem with this like me, give this a try.

Salt and carb intake is a constant battle for me as I love them both.
But my body does not love them so much.

This was an easy way to decrease some of the edema without drugs.

Just wanted to share it in case it might help someone else!

Yup, those are all natural diuretics but they don't solve the underlying issue. The best thing to do is to avoid excess salt, drink plenty of water all the time, and avoid those carbs, and then you won't need the diuretics, but I know that's all easier said than done.

Uh, yes. If we avoided all those things all the time, none of us would be here, right?

I drink plenty of water every day. The point of my post is that there are naturally ocurring diuretics that can help with the bloat if it is bothersome.

Sorry I didn't mean to lecture.  It's just that there are dangers to using diuretics and the weight loss is short term.  That's why I said I know it's easier said than done.  Just trying to help.

 I don't recall saying I had a weight problem.

I have a problem holding on to extra fluid when I am approaching my period, eat too many carbs or salty foods.

And when I am bloated, I am uncomfortable.

I believe I also said I don't use diuretics like Lasix.

I have been an RN for 23 years. Pretty familiar with diuretics. But thanks anyway.

I'm curious, how much did you up your fluid intake from?  I have to admit that ever since my VSG, I just don't drink water the way I used to.  I don't enjoy it anymore, it sits so heavy. I definitely don't drink enough, so I really should commit to this...........at least try!

I'm a good water drink.
I get my requisite 8 glasses in pretty consistently.
(But, I don't enjoy water either.)

I try my best to get them in during the work day so my bladder does not wake me at night.

Very important if you try this water...Monday night I was up 3 times...boo!

Give it a try. Nothing to lose really. You might like it!
I see myself really liking it better when the weather turns hot.

But for now, I just keep a tumbler full on my desk.
I sip and sip...and pee.

Sounds yummy too. Thinking adding vodka is probably not recommended? LOL. Is there a "recipe"'or just toss some of each in and wing it.

Thanks!

Denise

Vodka? Now there's an idea!!

Actually there is a recipe...pretty easy.

8- 8 oz glasses of water...okay 64oz!
1 cuke, peeled and thinly sliced
1 lemon, thinly sliced
1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger (I use more cuz I am a ginger loving freak)
10 mint leaves

Put it all together in a big pitcher. Fridge over night.
Next day strain and enjoy!

I have made a batch every night this week. I strain it in the morning and put in a big Rubbermaid pitcher thing to carry to work.

Tasty. Really good if plain water has become a chore for you.
