Just had my first PS consult

So, yes, I know I still need to lose another 30 lbs.  I need a fair amount of face work done, however, and since I'll be out of the office for a week and a half anyhow at Passover, I thought maybe the face work could be done then (I mean honestly, how much more fat could I have on my head?!).

While understanding that I was really wondering about my face, the PS took a look at the whole body to give me an idea of what he thinks I'll be needing (and the pricing).  As for the face, he said it is reasonable to do it in April, but suggested waiting until the end of summer because he thinks I might decide at that point to do midface as well.

So here's where I am:  Three surgeries staged like this:

1) lower face lift, necklift, endoscopic browlift $14k.  My neck is unbelievably wrinkled now for my age (44) and I'm a little jowly.  The browlift isn't related to weightloss - I just have a bit of a heavy brow line which annoys me.

2) abdominoplasty with a little lipo at waist, breastlift with braline excision.  $17.5k.  Includes one night in hospital.  Thank heavens my backside and thighs look pretty good.  I'm good with being a B or C cup after the lift.  I have a lot of excess skin (apple shape plus had a set of twins) but he feels like I don't need an anchor cut.

3) brachioplasty$6k

By the end of the summer I should be at goal or below.  It feels good to know what I'm facing and have a plan.  The money, though - ouch!  Guess it'll be a 401k loan for me.

Hah!  Well, I don't really have the money (4 kids in private school suck up all of my available moolah), but I can manage a 401k loan, so it should be feasible.

Its kind of exciting once you talk to your surgeon because it slowly starts becoming a reality. Do you have the summer off from work already? How much time does your dr want between  your surgeries? From what I can tell from reading this board alot, it seems how he is staging the surgeries seems to be best. I am also curious about what would be the difference if he added the midface lift with it. Its also kind of nice that now that you have a specific timeline in mind it gives you the extra motivation to loose the last bit of weight. I know I need the extra push to keep me motivated. And really summer isnt that far off, should be here pretty quick. So whatever  you decide I am excited for you, so good luck.

Thank you for the good wishes!

No, no time off from work (other than a one week vacation for my 20th wedding anniversary!).  He wasn't terribly specific about the amount of time between surgery.  Essentially he wants me to "heal" between each surgery.  The face/neck lift he said usually heals pretty quickly, but the body work is much more major.  So my impression was that he wanted the face first because recovery from that will be quick and I can schedule the body work pretty soon thereafter.  Honestly, it's hard to say which bothers me more - the face or body.  The body is more deformed, but it's pretty well camouflaged with Spanx and clothes, whereas there's no camouflage for my face.  Ironic that just when I feel so much younger than I have in years, I look so much older!

I'm definitely feeling the motivation to get the last of it off, especially since this month slowed down  good bit (6 lbs. compared to the usual 10-11 lbs.).

I do have one other consult scheduled for week after next as well.  I'm interested to see if this doctor has similar recommendations.

Good luck with your second consult! It makes sense to me to use the 10 days you have off for Passover for recovery.
