Surgery Date Set!
As far as the car ride home, if you have leather seats put a sheet down this will make it easier to slide out. take pillows too.
For home just set up all your goodies close by. I had baby wipes, water books, snacks, medications, remotes and tons of other stuff right by my lift recliner. I think one of those grabby things might help you too.

A couple of pointers:
1. Stay on schedule with your pain meds. Don't let them lapse. You want to stay ahead of the pain.
2. Take it slow and easy. Initially, the muscle tightening will force it on you. As you feel better, you will still be healing even as the external scars heal. Give your body and spirit the time you need for healing. As women, we tend to put ourselves last. This is the time to put yourself first.
3. Eat well. This is a time when it is easy to indulge in comfort food. While it tastes yummy, my southern momma never made healthy comfort food. Increase your protien. I still drink protien drinks. I was nauseous for 3-4 days after surgery. My protien drinks were a blessing. (I like the Syntrax Nectar Lemon Iced Tea -- just powder and water mixed with a spoon -- drink what you like).
I'm only 3 weeks out myself.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. Here's to great results and an uneventful recovery.

I copied this from somewhere:
The getting in and out of the car is a "Go Slow" process. Don't try to sit and then turn. You have to get your butt in the seat straight forward and then lift one leg at a time into the car. You can do this very slow with minimal pain. Just go at your own pace and no hurry. I found that I could not sit back in the seat though. I was sitting straight up and kind of holding the sides of the seat to keep still.
I really like the idea of a sheet on leather seats that should make it much easier.
I had an open appendectomy many years ago & I can attest to the fact that we make think we're healed and feeling fine but internally the muscles are still healing. I still recall that twinge when I did too much too soon. Take it easy...this is very major surgery!
Looking forward to following your progress!
