Belly button problem after TT

Hello all,

I am almost 3 weeks po extended TT and BA/BL. I am having trouble with my belly button, it seems to want to weep. I saw the nurse on Monday and she said yes, it is too wet, dry it twice a day with a hair dryer and sit at night without your garment or sleep without the garment. I have been doing that for a couple of days but it seems that it is still wanting to drain and stay wet. Has anyone had any experience with this problem? Any suggestions would be appreciated

Thanks,
Tina

Lots of us have had the problem. Seems the general consensus is to keep it clean (some do alcohol on a swab--sounds painful to me so I used Bandaid brand antiseptic/anesthetic liquid), apply bacitracin (not neosporin cause some react to it) and apply a dry dressing. I've not heard the recommendation to sleep without the garment. I'd want to hear that from the doctor directly.

It will get better soon! But keep an eye on signs of infection--increased redness or pain, oozing pus, fever.

Take care,

Denise

I'm 3 weeks out from my LBL. I'm having the same issue with my bellybutton.

I'm cleaning it a couple times a day, but I can't seem to keep it dry. It can get a little crusty at times too.

It is such a pretty bellybutton, but heal already!

I cleaned it when taking a shower with the surgical soap, blow dried with hair dryer, cleaned it with peroxide q tip.. some days cut a non stick guaze into a strip down the BB and then covered it with another piece of guaze..guaze acted like a wick in a candle.. drawing out the moisture..

I tried the gauze this morning.  My bb already seems drier. It seems like it is working for me.  Thanks for the help.

Mine got mushy/weepy and acted like it wanted to open up somewhere around week 2.

Spoke with my PS. His orders were to leave it alone!! He did not want anything put on it at all. Just a piece of gauze to protect it from binders and such.

It was better in a week.

Pretty cute now!

I'm just sayin...do not put anything on it until you clear it with the person who did the work.

The nurse at my PS office said to leave it alone too, don't put anything on it, just dry it with the hairdryer. Mine gets so goopy that it runs down my belly a little was your that bad or was it just a little wet?

Hope my BB improves alot, it's not so cute right now, just kind of a skinny slit, not really round at all.

It was pretty wet for a day...then just mushy, shiny, spongy looking and black!!!

Hideous it was!

Belly buttons are a real challenge for surgeons. But once all the scabs were gone...I was left with a nice new round bellybutton.

Don't despair!
