My 2nd consult with another surgeon was yesterday......(long)
Well I went for a 2nd consult yesterday. I'm frustrated with the first surgeon and the total lack of communication that has gone on with my claim for insurance approval.
I met Dr. Lokeh when I went to an informational lunch he put on at a local deli in St. Paul. The only people invited were people who had WLS. I really really liked him when I met him for a few various reaons.
First, he's a WLS post -op himself. He had a RnY in 2004. I think he could relate to us a lot more and he definitely specializes in Bariatric patients.
He believes in treating his patients as a whole...and definitely takes into account all the things WLS patients have to deal with.
He showed many many slides of his work, and I thought his work was amazing. Trust me...I've been looking at tons of pictures.
A friend said her best friend had chin to knee work by him and her results are amazing. She's working on a lunch so I can meet her and pick her brainand look at his work! LOL.
He was warm, personable, and I asked a ton of questions. I was at his office for almost 2 hours, granted part of that was filling out paperwork, but I think actual face time was over an hour. I explained to him that if my insurance doesn't cover my tummy and chest, I could not afford to self pay. He would be spending a lot of time persuing my case and may not ever get to operate on me and get paid. He's an out of network provider for me, which means, my co-payment doubles, but his fee is reduced by 30%.
All that being said, I know he's the surgeon for me. I felt comfortable with him and I didn't feel like I was a stretched out belly he'd seen a thousand times. I know it's still going to be a long journey, but I have a feeling things will ultimately go the right way with Dr. Lokeh. This decision brings me peace of mind I certainly wasn't feeling with the first Dr.

It's great when you get that "feeling" that you've found the right doctor for you, isn't it? That's how I feel about my facelift doc, so I can totally relate. I can tell from your post that Dr. Lokeh is the doctor that you feel in your heart is best for you, so I truely hope you get to use him. Good luck!
I said finding a surgeon was like finding a wedding dress--you just know when you've found the right one. Now you can really start getting excited!!
Glad it went so well!
Enjoy your weekend!

Yay for you! Isn't that the best feeling!! I met with 2 surgeons prior to surgery as well. the first one was nice, but I left feeling extremely uneasy about everything (so did my mom). I think that I would have gotten satisfactory results had I gone with him. However, I don't think I would have been half as pleased with the results as I am with my actual post- op results using a different surgeon. When I met with the second surgeon, I just knew he was the right one. His fees were a little higher (For my 3 surgeries, I will be spending around $30,000 because my insurance pays $0) however, I am SO glad that I chose him to do my work. Always go with your gut! Good luck with everything!!
