I was just curious and kind of worried myself with a thought haha... Should I schedule my plasticsi for right after my menstrual cycle usually ends? I remember my cycle showing up the morning after my back surgery and that was hell at 440 lbs trying to clean and all without being able to move normally.

TMI ALERT!!!

I normally use tampons so...I'm worried I wont be able to bend around to do what needs to be done. I have allergic reactions to pads - I'm just full of worry tonight! LOL please excuse my terminology- not used to posting TMI unless it's the ever dreaded poo- questions on the RNY board!

**Edited to add: I'll be having an extended tummy tuck but insurance will know it as a panniculectomy with findings of "possible melanoma" ie: freckles and a few moles LOL <3 my surgeon!

Okay, so I am "fortunate" enough that every time I have plastics I have my cycle! :-)  I have PCOS so without birth control I have no idea when my cycle is coming.

My cycle started the day before I had abdominiplasty and an inner thigh lift....I was fine changing the tampon.  The nurses had to help me in the hospital, but once I could get up I was okay.

My cycle started the day I was discharged from my LBL.  I was okay changing my tampon at that point as well.

I may have had a few extra potholes along the way, but the journey has been good!

Doesn't matter when you schedule it.

Neither of my procedures were near my regular cycle yet I started bleeding almost immediately post op both times.

In times of stress, the body sometimes reacts this way.

I had no problems attending to the business as needed after my abdominal work. I was 168 pounds smaller!! Everything is easier.

I needed help from my partner after the second procedure because I was in terrible pain and could not use my arms.

So, what I'm trying to say is don't over think it. You'll be fine.

Congrats on the ext TT. I'm sure your surgeon is well versed in this but insurance companies have been known to come back to the patient after these procedures and ask for some payment if what they approved is not what was done. Dictated OR reports don't lie and the insurance will read these carefully plus they will look at OR times, anesthesia times, etc. Documentation is key!

Soon as I got out of the hospital I got my period 2 weeks early. Either from stress on my body or blood thinners. I heard a lot of women get there period right after plastic surgery. I had 5 broken bone major surgery's an the duodenal switch an never got my period after so I think its the blood thinner shots. An it's not any problem getting the tampons in an out an I had LBL with anchor cut. Maybe if you get your arms done to that might cause I problem. Good luck but I would not worry about it.

Promise not to laugh.. but I used depends with another super duper overnight ..plenty of wipes..

The medication I would sleep too long and forget to remove the tampons plus in the surgery.. they wouldnt allow me to use a tampon.. or even one during m overnight stay..
