Subpectoral or under the muscle implants--picture to clear up confusion
A lot of folks have the impression that implants placed under the muscle are completely under the muscle. This is not the case in a large percentage of surgeries. This picture is one of the best I've seen to show the anatomy after a subpectoral placement of implants. You'll see how the lower 1/3 of the implant will rest within breast tissue unsupported by the muscle. This is how "bottoming out" still occurs even with subpectoral placement and why people can feel their implants despite being below the muscle. Hope this helps.
