A little OT ... maintenance calorie levels...

I wish I could lose and maintain without counting calories!! I find that calories can lend themselves to some pretty disordered thinking if you aren't careful.  Good idea to stay away from the scale a bit right after surgery.  I did that too and when I stepped on it 2 weeks out from my BL/Brachioplasty I was 3 lbs down. I wasn't able to eat much that first week after surgery though.

Congrats on the 6 lb loss!!!

Yay! Another tall girl!  Is that maintenance calories or for losing?  Just wondering because those are my losing calories (but I do weigh like 20 lbs more than you and am 3 inches taller so my calorie levels will probably be higher)

I am 5'10 and 159, almost at goal.

I think I eat more than the average WLS patient.  But I also think I exercise more - I do five workouts a week at the gym plus two karate classes a week and I run three miles every Sunday outside.  Maybe 6-7 hours a week of exercise, and forty minutes of that three times a week is weight training.

I try to hit a calorie average for the week of 1600 calories per day and I am pretty consistent.  I eat more on the weekends, and I drink.  Yup, gasp, I drink.  Usually Friday night but sometimes Saturday too.  That adds about 400 calories each time - I usually have 3-4 drinks.

I am still losing about 1.5 lbs per week with stalls occasionally.  I'd like to get down to 150 and stay there.

Thanks for sharing!  I eat more on the weekends too and less during the week.  I probably only average about 1400 cal a day on weekdays, but it balances to 1800-2100 ish for the week when you factor weekends into the equation.

I'm 45 and 5'7" tall. I am 3.5 years out from RNY. I eat 2000 to maintain my goal weight of 140. I cut back to 1500 when I hit the +3 limit I have given myself. It's off within the week.

Thanks for sharing! It seems like you have it down to a science.  That is awesome!  Do you work out much?  I see that your maintenance calories are much higher than most I've seen recently (which is very encouraging :) ).  Just wondering what your activity level is right now.  Thanks!

I go to the gym 3 times a week and do an hour on the elliptical and an hour on weights. I wish I could fit in more gym time, but I'm a single mom and that's all I can do for now. I also go for walks with my kids on most days I don't go to the gym. I'm not a fanatic, but it is routine now.
