How long did it take you to heal?

I'm wondering if some folks can chime in about how long it took your incisions to heal?  I know that for each person it's different, and that it takes a long time for scars to fade.

What I'm wondering specifically is how long it took you to feel like your incision had healed and you weren't pieced together or worried about your wound opening up, or felt comfortable laying on the incision area.

 Thanks for sharing!

You are right...we are all different.
Massive weight loss and WLS really affect our bodies in relation to healing after trauma.

For me- I am fanatical about protein. I never go to bed with less than 100 grms a day on board.
I take vitamins every day_without fail_always have.
I am a quick healer.

That said, following each of my surgeries, the sensation of feeling like things were gonna burst open any second lasted a week or two. Abdomen was the worst because it was so so tight.

By two weeks, incisions were smooth and scabs were gone.
The thing to remember is that the skin heals but there is so much left to be repaired beneath the surface...what we cannot see.
So, it is an ongoing thing and these areas must be treated gently.

I was sleeping on my side at the 2 week mark...with pillows for support.
But I was very careful in turning my body...always...in bed, getting in/out of cars, etc.
You gotta watch the tourque. Incisions can and will split.
Not the end of the world but who wants that headache?!

By one month I could get back to sleeping short intervals on my stomach...which I love.
Yes, I am that person. On my belly with my face smashed into the pillow! So attractive!
Terrible for the lines on my face but I do my best sleeping like that!

Great question!  I never actually felt like my incisions would open up .  Plus I have to wear the binder 24/7 and that is very supportive...actually feels good.  It took about ten days before I could  be comfortable sleeping on any of the incisions.  With the extended TT the front and both sides have incisions so it is impossible to get comfy on Any of those areas ....and then I had full back lipo and was majorly bruised so I wasn't comfortable there either so sleeping was a challenge and finally at about ten days out I am comfortable sleeping on my back with pillow under my legs.  Having the LBL, u will have incisions all around so will have the same issue I had.  Just expect it and know that it will get better.  I think the not sleeping good was hard for me and really added to my not feeling good.
My scars tend to heal not so great...my incisions develop thick scars (keloids)...so I have to put paper tape on all my scars for atleast six months.  Hopefully this will help.
I do suggest getting protein shakes before surgery to have for after.  Protein is so important for healing. And I just wasn't hungry at all for days after so atleast this way u know u r getting  protein.

Do you think a recliner would have made things easier?

How much help did you need?

I think it also depends on how much PS you have done at the same time.. Most of my incisions are scab free.. but I am very careful.. I walk and move slowly.. I heard too many horror stories about splitting open incisions.. I am 5 weeks out.

I still think it will take another 3-4 weeks for me to feel safe to sleep on my side.. or move with any quicker movements..

safety 1st !
