Thank you...I needed that information.  I had no idea.  Do they take the pics after you commit to choosing thaem to do the surgery?

Keep asking those questions.  You'll be sorry if you don't because you'll continue to get valuable information.  If we didn't want to answer questions, we wouldn't stick around on OH post plastics.  Some say that only those with complications stick around to discuss them and seek help.  Many of us stick around because we're so grateful for those that came before us.  It's that old Pay it Forward thang!  :)

You can never ask too many questions.

When I went for my consult....he examined me closely to see what I needed.  He said that I did not need a LBL because my back was in good shape...the lower back, butt area I mean.  At my final consult before surg, I asked him again and he said he doesn't want to do a LBL if not needed and that I would be very happy with the extended TT with lipo....and I am!

My surgeon gave me the option. I was a relative lightweight when I has my WLS with a BMI of 41. I certainly did not have the pounds of loose skin that many people have.

My PS said we could get a good result either way because I have a nice shape naturally. I really wanted my butt issues addressed. I also had a fear of "dog ears" at my hips. I decided to deal with the tough recovery to get the results I want.

So far so good.

I've never heard of going for a LBL INSTEAD of a TT/Abdominoplasty, but I don't claim to be an expert. When I went for my consult I was quoted on all of the following:

Abdominoplasty
Fleur de Lis Abdominoplasty (with the corset-like muscle tightening).
Lower Body Lift
Brachioplasty
Breast Augmentation

My insurance will cover the abdominoplasty (I have to pay $900 out of pocket for the addition of the fleur de lis with muscle tightening). All of the other work quoted would have cost me $25,000.

In my case, the lower body lift is still an option after my tummy tuck (the LBL will fix the sagginess in my legs / butt, where the abdominoplasty is just fixing my abdomen).

I went with the abdominoplasty because it's all I can afford right now, and my stomach is my biggest concern.

My surgeon says he usually does TT with arms (at the same time), then LBL on it's own and breast aug on it's own. My next biggest concern is my breasts, but he doesn't do tummy tuck and breasts at the same time because, essentially, they "fight" each other (TT is trying to pull everything down and smooth, breasts are trying to pull up).

I would love to go back and get my breasts done, then arms, then a LBL (in that order). I don't think I'll ever be able to afford all of that, though (I'm an MBA student, so on top of life's normal bills, I have a mountain of student loan debt)...

We'll see. I do plan on going for some more consults to see what kind of pricing I could get on the remaining surgeries. There's a few in my area who specialize in post-bariatric reconstruction...

Thank you for clarifying.  I mistakenly thought the LBL fixed the abdomen too.  What you said makes sense.

My understanding is that LBL does include the abdomen with muscle tightening. That is what I have been told at the two consults that I have had.

Based upon the responses to this question it sounds like different doctors include different procedures.  Thank you for the input.
