XP: Anyone have a post WLS breast reduction?

Hi...

My PCM is referring me to a doctor for a potential breast reduction... at least to get evaluated and to discuss the options.  If you went through this, what was your experience with how much the doctor wanted to remove?

Post surgery, the smallest bra size I've gotten into is a 36DD, but that lasted about ten minutes.  I haven't gained weight, but my boobs sure have come back with a vengeance... I'm currently in a 36DDDD, otherwise known as a 36G! (Nik, didn't you experience something similar... your boobs grew back?)

While I've been getting a lot of killer headaches and I really think it would be fantastic to get a reduction since that comes with a lift (and lordy, I need it... needed it BEFORE RNY!), I'm not sure.  I'd love to be smaller, but not TOO small... I'm a big girl frame-wise and the last thing I want is for my chest to be too small for my body. Call me picky, but while I don't want 'em excessively big, I don't want them too small, either!

I'm thinking I could happily live with a D cup (36D sounds good to me)... anyone who had surgery end up with that much left?  I hear a lot of peeps talking about Cs, and even some B cups... if that's what they push you to, there's no way I'm doing it.

Just looking for some anecdotal info... any thoughts greatly appreciated!

Yep, I had one.  I was a 36G before my breast reduction/lift as well.  Now I am a 36C although my side boobs hang out a lot so sometimes I just wear a 38C.  I did get my insurance to pay for it.  I do not have very dense tissue so they had to take out more tissue than I really wanted to in order to satisfy the insurance requirement.  I would much rather be a 36D.  I've always been big busted and I was really scared to be smaller breasted but I do feel SO much better and I defintely do not regret it.  I no longer have the back pain - I really wasn't convinced that my breasts were the reason for my back pain but I had no more back pain after my surgery.  I'm happy where I am at but I do not have any fullness in my upper breast anymore.  A lot of my WLS friends had the reduction and then did implants at the same time (or later). I didn't really understand that but now I am actually contemplating it as I am now scheduling my tummy tuck for March

I was a 40DDD post WLS.  I had a back lift and breast lift in November and am now a 38D.  They are fabulous.  I was a little worried at first that they would be "too small" since I also have a big frame, broad shoulders and have always had a big chest.  My surgeon was an artist and they suit my body perfectly and are perkier than I think they have ever been naturally.

I'm encouraged by that... am hoping the surgeon can take enough away for it to be covered by surgery, but still leave me with something bigger than a C cup!  The good news is that my PCM already scheduled the appointment with the plastic surgeon for next Friday... will know more then, but really hoping it works out.

Thanks for the info!

I didn't have the reduction but did have a lift and it made a tremendous difference.  I was a 36 DDD before the surgery and am still a 36 DDD a year after the surgery.  But now instead of my breasts hanging to my waist they're were they are suppose to be.  Finally at 60 I have "perky" breasts and I couldn't be happier.  Instead of it taking 10 minutes to put on my bra and adjust myself in it - I can put it on and everything goes where it should.  I did have an arm lift about a year before the BL that came down about 6" from my arm pit and that removed the extra skin on my sides.  Good luck to you.

I had a BR/BL done in May 2010.  I was a 38L (Yikes!!!).  This was due to 2 post op babies in 2 years (in 2007 and 2009).  Basically they were long tube socks!  My PS took them down to a 38C.  They are a full "C".  I LOVE them!  The back pain was gone instantly when I came out of recovery.  I had so much skin after losing 130 pounds, but I still had enough tissue due to the 2 babies, they are "full".

Talk with the PS and see what he/she recommends with how much tissue you have as well.

Good luck!
