Surgery done

Surgery went very well. I was wheeled into OR at 7:58 am and home by 3:30 pm. Normally my surgeon has patients stay overnight but I got him to agree I could go home when we had last spoke.

When I got there the nurses were all saying I would need to stay the night. I guess they haven't come across that many of the stubborn Irish lol.

I have the onQ pump that slowly releases a local anesthetic into incision, so it was thought that I was up walking and doing well bc of that. After 2 hours I looked at it myself and realized the med tubes were both clamped! I was never getting the meds. So than we opened the clamps and now I feel pretty damn good between that and my percocets. No nausea, just a little scratchy throat.

I haven't seen the results bc I have a binder on and two JP drains but my surgeon said my results are great.

ETA...hoping my surgery twin Katin is doing well and checks in soon :o)

Hello heather! Glad things are going so well for you. Yesterday was a major ouchy day for me! Plus I have been extremely nauseous since waking up Tuesday. My surgery ended up taking quite a while. I was out from around 8:45 and woke up in recovery around 6. Lots of overhauling to do. Anyway both my anesthesiologist and dr. Lo said it was just going to take some time to work all that medication out of my system.

I got home today around 2:30 and am very happy that I stayed bc of the whole nausea issue (yeah IV zofran and phenergran).

The binders and drains are a bit of a pain but "this too shall pass" and I just need to muttle through the next several days. I took a shower today when I got home which was an ordeal! I look all sewed up and Franken-barbieish. Just like expected. Breast don't really hurt at all, mainly hips and back. He did a lot of saddlebag lipo on that area.

Hope you are doing well, I have an onQ also and think it has really helped the abdominal pain, which is minimal. When do your drains come out?

Hey Heather- haven't seen much posting from you in the last few days but am wondering how you are doing?

I am figuring things out slowly but surely. I think the pain has been extremely manageable, just the logistics of drains, getting comfortable etc. but every day seems better. So, so, so looking forward to having my drains pulled some time this week, then I can feel halfway normal again!

I have been doing well healing wise. My dog died suddenly on Friday morning, I was home alone and helpless to do anything, couldn't lift to even move her to a more comfortable spot, so emotionally I have had my ups and downs.

I am only taking the percocet at night and in the am, like 12 hrs between, and motrin during the daystarting yesterday, I see surgeon today and hopefully my drains can come out. I am still very swollen but each day I have taken off the binder and the dressing and each day you see more and more of a good result. I think I might get a belly ring, just bc I can LOL

I am so so sorry about your dog. You poor thing!

I am glad you are healing well. I have not had too much pain-manageable and to be expected. I take the vicodin now too before bed to help get comfortable and sleep, but don't really need anything during the day. I will be SOOOO happy to get my drains out-hopefully on Wednesday. But for now the right drain is still having pretty high output although decreasing daily. They are just such a pain to manage and manipulate. I just switched from ace bandages that were driving me nuts to a really soft sports bra and it is like heaven. So much more comfortable!

It is going to be so exciting to see what size and how we will look in clothes! I can't help but look through catalogs and dream!

Again, I am so sorry about your dog-sending hugs your way.

Thanks so much for your support.

How many drains do you have? I had two, by yesterday was getting very minimal drainage.

I have two also. I started out with 4, one under each breast also, but they pulled those before I left the hospital. So now just the 2 lower ones. I am still having some drainage but every day it's less I think (fingers crossed) that Wednesday will be small enough to pull them.
