FYI...Please read and understand....

There is apparently an OH page on Facebook and they are cross posting our posts...with pictures!!!  I know many of you have shared your most private photos of some very personal issues here and you may want to delete them and/or check to see if they have already been plastered on FB.

I have been very open with my WLS and the issues that have gone along with it, but I chose not to discuss my plastic surgery exploration and dating escapades on FB.  Now I find out that things I have posted on forums that I felt safe sharing in (due to the nature of this forum and the community that visits it...not my friends and family IRL) are now being posted on FB for anyone to see.

I am not trying to start anything and I just wanted you all here to be aware that this was happening.  And, apparently, even private profiles and pictures are being shared.

Posters beware!!!

If you go the VSG main board you will see several posts about this with multiple links to the page.  I will try to get the link posted here...sorry I didn't think to post it in the original post.

Thanks for the warning.... I think this is horrible that they would do this without permission.  I have gotten so much support from oh that I would hate to see people stop posting because of this.  What can we do??

Yep. Not nice! Not sure what will happen with this, BUT...

If you have a Facebook account, you should review your settings on your Facebook page often. Facebook changes the privacy settings from time to time. I just checked mine, and there were more options than last time I checked.

For instance, you can block users and applications (like OH's Facebook page, for example). You can also adjust the way that others are allowed to view your posts and the posts of others on your page. This means that you can do things like blocking other people from seeing what other people (like OH, for example) show to your friends.

There are lots of options on the privacy settings, so that might be the first way to start protecting yourself until this is sorted out.

 This is absolutely disgusting.

I post on this board but make a concentrated effort to stay off of everything else. There are far too many cyber stalkers, one of which showed up at my door a few years ago.

I was under the impression that OH was for members. Not that our personal issues or our private photos be published to the public at large.

Shame on you OH.

I hate reading this!  I really hoped that OH was one of the good ones.

I did get a bit suspicious when I saw the new tab at the top called My Journey.  It looked a lot like a promo.

From the FB page, regarding OH Terms of Service:

"Please note that when you post in public forums, on message boards and in chat rooms, all or parts of your posts are subject to being copied or reprinted by other community members. ObesityHelp reserves the right to use online posts or chats or parts thereof for use in online or printed material. ObesityHelp will not use the posters full name or online identity without prior written permission."

OH used to be a quiet little corner of the net where a special group of people who could relate to each other could share experiences and not worry about this kind of stuff.

It's a whole new internet now, and the whole world can see what you post.

I am NO FAN of that smarmy little twit Zuckerburg who invented Facebook and is now out to peddle everybody's profile to advertisers so they can target you with stuff they think you will buy.  That's what this is all about folks.  You're just a target audience to them.

Excuse my rant, but this is ridiculous.
